Front Sway Bar Issues :(

I was replacing the Front LCA and adding a sway bar due to my car not having one. I bought LCA and a Sway Bar Being told that it was from a EX. I ordered new end-links. The End-links were for a EX with the long bolt for installing the sway bar directly above the LCA's. AS I remove the shift linkage and exhaust I get the sway bar installed. go to put the shift linkage back on and it hits the sway bar and is about a inch from being able to be bolted back to the transmission. It is obvious now that this sway bar will not work..... So should i just buy a GSR sway bar now? Why does this sway not clear the shift linkage? was I sold the wrong bar?

This should work correct with my LCA's I have installed?
94-01 Acura Integra GSR OEM Front Sway Bar With Links:eBay Motors (item 280426918499 end time Jan-19-10 20:51:09 PST)

If it does I will buy it

I notice the end-links are different than what I have currently have, but it looks as if it will line up correctly with the LCA.

Thanks for the help

Also does anyone have a sway bar they would sell me?

here is the sway bar i tried to use

What size sway bar is that? 26mm? What year and model civic are you working with? Is it a 2000 Civic DX Hatch?

I have just had my 2000 EX converted to the EM1,2000 USDM Si, to be able to use the 26mm sway bar. I reverted to using some valuable information on this link within EK9.org.

I think that the key to your issue can be found at the link above. As from your picture seems to lead me to think you have a 26mm bar, from CTR or USDM Si. But its hard to tell, cant make out the ends of the bar itself.

Yeah I have no idea on the sway bar size i can mike it tommarow and yes it is a dx hatch

Check the end links then

Which does yours match? See below, pink or yellow?

matches pink

well, dam...that should work. let me sleep on this one. Did you change the LCA's to be EX?

Front Lower Control Arm compatibility:

Civic EX and HX front LCAs should be used when adding or upgrading to:
- 1992-1995 Civic Si
- 1992-2000 Civic EX
- 1994-1997 del Sol DOHC
- 1996-2000 Civic HX
- 1994-2001 Integra LS
- 1994-2001 Integra GSR
- 1996-2001 Integra Type R

Front Endlink compatibility:
Please note, aftermarket bushing kits should be purchased for the following endlink kits given the sway being added/upgraded to.

Civic EX and HX sway bar endlinks should be used when adding:
- 1992-1995 Civic Si
- 1992-2000 Civic EX
- 1994-1997 del Sol DOHC
- 1996-2000 Civic HX
- 1994-2001 Integra LS
- 1994-2001 Integra GSR
The EX and HX endlinks are vertical bolts with bushings that come straight down through the sway bar and then through the LCA. The holes for both go horizontally, parallel to the ground.

The thing is i was told they were ex arms and sway. Im going back out to put it back together ill get more pics of everything but i bought ex endlinks and everything looks like ex parts... :(

Also everything on the bar lines up too endlinks and mounts but once you go to put the shift linkage back on the linkage hits the bar its like this sway bar does not have enough ark to clear the linkage

I wonder if the shift linkage is different on the DX vs. EX. Does anyone know?
I will try to take a few pics of how mine routes under the car this afternoon.
Although mine is far from the OEM EX setup, it may help in finding your issue.

hummmm:blinx:

Same problem here.

I changed my front lca from an ex and got myself a 22mm swaybar.

B16a with CTR shift linkage and it doesn't fit and it's hanging
really low when installed without the linkage.

Same type of endlink.

I'm not sure if the sway is coming from a teg or civic ex cause
they are both the same size.

Anybody has the same setup with a sway that fit properly ?

This is strange...why didn't I run into this issue?!?! I guess I did not for the reason that I went from a EX to EM1/USDM Si front suspension. But there was never an issue with the dam shift linkage. Weirdness much?

So Got the car back together today still without a sway bar...I found a header when i moved i am not sure what is is its got a skid plate on it someone put on..

In reply to DedeSIR- I wondering if i have CTR shift linkage as well and maybe the CTR sway bar has a higher arc in it.. maybe back to changing the LCA to CTR. Because the shift-linkage is exactly where the sway bar is

I have the same shift linkage would we have to get a CTR sway bar? Does anyone know if the arc is larger?

The problem is IIRC, the CTR sway require to change
the lca and shock fork and the endlinks.

CTR sway is 26mm.

I did check my brother civic ex, and the stock sway was different
then the one I got but same 22 mm diamater.

I guess the integra and civic is really not the same.

I was planning on trying a civic sway next summer.

Now it's snowing and -15 outside

IIRC? what is that short for?

I thought from the sway bar thread you could use the ctr sway with itr endlinks on ek lower controll arm?

iirc= if i recall correctly, and yes you are correct! To intall CTR sway bar on 96-00 civic you need the end links, shock forks, and control arms. That's why i opted to go with the ST 24mm bar instead.

When I was reading the helpful info though I took it as you could use the ctr sway with itr end-links if i would do that then there would be no reason to upgrade to ctr LCA and shock forks though correct?

Hopefully this will end the problem

:nono:
Integra end links are different from CTR/Si [i think the CTR/Si setup is superior over the integra, just me tho.]

Civic Si sway bar endlinks should be used when adding or upgrading to:
- 1999-2000 Civic Si
- 1997-2000 Civic Type R
The Civic Si endlinks are both horizontal ends connected by a vertical rod. The holes for both the sway bar and and the LCA are vertical, both perpendicular to the ground. :)

Did you figure out what bar you have?
