Took a bit of time to polish up my manifold today before it goes on (hopefully this week/weekend coming).

Before it was a little corroded, I'd started polishing one tube.

Sure did :) i used AutoGlym metal polish, some wire wool & a rag!

It is 2.5 yeah

Haha yeah I hope so! I wanted a track friendly one so hopefully it won't be too loud with me being decatted & with a manifold. I think 2 of them a more "resonators" than silencers & then mid box & backbox are silencers.

Never heard of pro racer before, although I'm not that into exhaust systems.
 
It's an awesome exhaust, absolutely loved mine! Nice and refined doing the daily tasks but sounds awesome in vtec. Also looks really nice too :)

Haha yeah! More to reduce exhaust boom than make it quieter I think. A guy I know had on his 9 & sounded nuts! I do like 5zigen stuff, hard to find now though really.

Well that's good to know! Exhaust I have now is soooo boomy inside, makes my ears ring! I do like the burnt tip on it a lot. Aww well custom is good to have, I would have gone custom but a bit expensive for what I'd want really. So branded exhaust it is for now :D

Then - been as I'm fitting my S2 manifold this weekend, I decided to take off the heat shield and have a look at the condition of the studs etc (as I will no doubt have a nightmare getting them off!) I made a discovery -

Firstly - Nice rusty standard manifold yo!

Now to the point. I've always noticed a weird burning smell coming through the vents inside the car after I've been into VTEC for a short blip, say 2nd to the top of 3rd. Then this mysterious burning smell, almost like a fumy oily smell comes through.

I had never cared to investigate until now. It seems my manifold is leaking on one side. There is also a nut missing off one of the studs on the far right of the photo. This could be the cause and made the gasket leak etc.

Reason for me saying this is you can see on the 2 branches on the right of the photo, there is damp around the flange on the head etc. I wiped it with my fingers and smells like oil. So definitely leaking I would say! Otherside is bone dry.

Engine burns oil btw (hence the swap soon to happen) which is why oil would be in the manifold. almost like a blow by leak.. Probably explains the smell!

I rambled on about that for a lot longer than I intended but you get the point :D

Fitted my Skunk2 Alpha Megapower manifold today! Love it! Made a real difference in sound & VTEC engagement sounds nuts. Can't say I've actually noticed any real difference in "power" but it will have made some difference I expect :)
