There's no standard size as such it all goes by the colour chart, if you need all green then you could risk the acl but personally I'd go OEM, I did on my high comp engine, I spent a fortune on my build but wanted to do it right, I went to honda and got all OEM seals throw out think it was close to 1k at the time for just some of the bugs needed lol have you tried pm'ing simauto on here for prices?
green is the middle size out of all the coloured bearings iirc, so people just refer to it as being the standard size. This is what we are saying, all the aftermarket bearings say "standard size" when there is no standard for these.
Stripped two engines and both had completely different colour bearings in.
I'm finding the clearance for mains is 0.0015-0.0017 on a b18c?
So you can "jump" two complete colours on oem and still be within oem clearance?
Say from green to black? This leads me to believe you have to be pretty unlucky for the ACLs to actually fall far out of clearnance considering they are marked as "standard size" so technically green?
Because with the honda bearings you no there is no chance of them failing if sized correctly, I've herd of engines with acl bearings failing as said some of the bearings are regarded as "standard" size. I no when I was building mine I would go OEM everytime.most people I've seen building engines over here seem to go for OEM, don't no an awful lot about the acl ones but I remember a member on here recommended I went for OEM so I decided to do that to save any issues if any. If your builder has said you need all green bearings then go for the acl there a good company and Alot of engines use there bits I'm just saying from personal experience when I built my high comp I went OEM and had no issues and don't want you to eitherIf I need all green, and ACL are that, why would you recommend OEM over ACL?
I dont know what size to get prices for as I dont have any colours to go off of, all I've been given is that my crank is 'standard size' I guess to be precise I'd need him to measure the bore the bearings sit in and crank journal then calculate what I need for each one hmm
I can't see the difference between them if you can get the clearance the same? May take a punt on some ACL and see what the clearances come out like.
The oem option is real expensive when you add it up as said before. £400+ for some bearings is pretty steep lol
