has anyone fitted ek9 shocks and springs to an ej/ek/3? They say that they sit high due to less weight of d-series engines

Yeah that's true man, slightly higher at the front. Get a set of lowering springs to sort that out. I got 35mm rear and 40mm front on my ej9 with ek9 shocks and balanced out well
 
I think they are made from alloy buddy , lightweight .

hey matey they have held up extremely well with very little superficial damage.. they may be steel im not sure they are super light but very durable.. sorry im not much help .
 
rays nut is made by duralumin and tough.
but aluminum nut is usually expendable item.
should be tighten by torque wrench.
 
Have the tabs been broken and then ground back? I don't understand what the purpose of doing that :p Please elaborate.
 
hey matey .. I think the tabs have previously been broken and so not to leave a rough edge someone has ground down to make them smooth . so the plate just rests on top of the halved tabs . this pic may make it more clear
