Alex's EK4 VTiS K20 swap Project


Big update:

B16 is gone, sold to a pal of mine


In its place will be a K20A2 (once i've freshened it up etc)

Will have the engine on Friday!

the VTIS has gone into the garage for a wee overhaul including suspension bushes, coilovers, underseal, engine swap of course and a respray at the end of it all :)



In the mean time i'll be driving this old thing :)


MOT is in a couple of weeks, one or two wee things done including a windscreen!

The EK is sitting like this now:


Have taken a deposit on the EP3 brake conversion as I'm going for the 282/262mm setup so I can put on OEM VTiS Speedlines!

Great progress, this will be a monster. Staying N/A I presume?

I want a little Civic as my spare car when my 9's off the road in a few months! :D

For the first while till i get bored it will aye haha!

It's a great wee car immaculate inside, 35k on the clock too! only cost 100 notes :D
 
Quick update! Got a couple of hours in the garage tonight, got the engine bay stripped further so i can work on getting it cleaned up and painted!



And my K20A2 is here!



Obviously missing a few bits here and there, including a gear box! But cant complain for what i paid for it all!

Anyone know of anywhere I can get an assembly guide for it including torque settings etc. would be much appreciated!
 
Stripped more wiring and **** out the bay


Hasport Kswap shafts


Ground the paint back to bare metal as a lot of it was flaking/rusting and lot of filler everywhere! what a mess


engine ancillaries sensors throttle body alternator etc arrived!


Started priming the bay


Primer almost finished


Stripped the rear of the car to take out sound deadening, paint floor etc.


test fit of the EP3 wheel


Forgot to get pics but the bay is now ready for paint! that'll be getting done in the next couple of weeks, along with painting my new bumpers, wings, bonnet, spoilers and lips :)

Got some new shoes, OEM VTIS Speedline Chronos


These will be painted this colour ;)


282 calipers, will be painted red along with the rear 262 calipers from 98 spec DC2!


New pads


Also have a DC2 1" master cylinder and servo to compliment the bigger brake setup


And the discs courtesy of my girlfriend as a christmas present!


Finally got round to painting the bay. just needs a lacquer and then the front end can start going together again


Recently got a new OEM gasket set, OEM Borg Warner timing chain, OEM honda chain guides and OEM honda tensioner, not taking any unnecessary risks!! Got this lot from japserviceparts, thoroughly recommend them!


Currently awaiting the arrival of a full DC2 subframe set up too, which includes anti roll bar, steering rack and lower arms. Will loop the Power steering etc. and will be swapped onto the car soon!

Finally getting somewhere lol

Did you manage to get the torque specs for the k20? Just seen your post the now. If your still struggling, i used to work for honda so could probably call in a favour to get you the figures/specs etc.

I found something on a US website, but any sort of assembly guide or manual or something would be good, cant find anything! lol cheers mate!
 
Very nice man u done fair well gettin a clean ej9 for 100!!!!

Ur Ek4 badly needs a belt of the lowerin stick tho
 
Wee update

Standard EP3 gearbox - on the way
oem EP3 clutch - on the way
255 fuel pump - on the way
Tegiwa radiator - being bought next week

Getting there...
 
EP3 box and clutch arrived this morning, got a brand new set of oem gearbox bolts from lings too
Got some coil packs for the engine too so once its together i'll just need fluids and plugs
255lph fuel pump arrived last week, and probably purchasing a rad soon too

also paint for my bumpers, spoiler etc. while the car is away having the rust sorted!
 
Okay so few things, recently purchased another fully functioning and running K20A2 on 85K miles with full Honda history and a recent chain and tensioner install!

However the project is on hold for now lol

Just got to the point where Ive realised I don't like where its going and am gonna do it the way I originally wanted instead of just focusing on having it running!
