Just been offered an engine, considering buying it this weekend, but need more information.

I will be dropping it into my preface lift EK9, and was wondering if it will drop straight in, or what would I need to change. wiring etc

The engine is s follows:
B18C4 Block (with integra type r internals, crank/rods/pistons)
B16 Head
Skunk2 pro 1 cams and valve train
adjustable skunk2 cam gears
vented valve cover
skunk 2 inlet manifold port matched to BDL 70mm throttle body.

cheers!!

Sounds very similar to my build except mine is a B18C4 block with high comp forged internals etc. same cams, Valvetrain and even same inlet mani and throttlec body! Lol

You will need it mapping in with Hondata S300 or something similar. Can't just run cams like that on standard ECU.

I have S300 for mine :)

Thanks, ill get one ordered. What about wiring looms etc?

Nope looking at about £500 for an S300 & another £70-100 for the loom lol.

You'll need OBD1 to OBD2A loom been as you're pre facelift!

You could probably use Crome or Neptune software to map it but not as good as S300

Neptune is just as good if not better than Hondata IMO. I am a Neptune dealer and have mapped every kind of setup you can think of with Neptune, it is a very capable software!

I guess that was just an opinion more than fact :) I know they're all capable softwares.

Take your pick I suppose :D

And is it necessary to have this with the engine I am away to buy? Or will it run fine with JDM P72 DC2 ECU?

got the engine sorted, but cant afford the hondata etc.

cheers

Go with what your tuner is happy to work wi

Absolutely , that engine won't run well on stock ecu.

Won't run well on P72 DC2 ECU because of the Skunk2 cams.

If it didn't have the cams, it would be fine.

Do it right & get it mapped in or it won't work. Plus you'll make the most power from it with a remap, let alone it running properly.

Sorry guys, I'm being stupid haha.

So after I install this engine to my preface lift EK9, (assuming the engine is just drop in and plug in) do I then drive it to a tuning shop to get it mapped? I still currently have the stock b16b JDM ECU in the car.

I know nothing about this, all I know is my B16b engine broke down, it got stripped and the internals were ******, so I'm ordering this new engine and that's where I am haha.

It will drop in simply yes but wouldn't recommend driving it at all until it's mapped due to the cams...

Stick it on a trailer & take it to the tuner.

Talk to your tuner, they should be able to provide you a safe map to drive the car on to be tuned.

You could drive it, just take it very easy and don't thrash it. Who will you be using to tune it? Wallace are pretty much on your doorstep. looking at your location.

just to clarify, you can still use your existing ECU but need a remap or do you need a different ECU?

Yeah buddy, just take it to Wallace probably!!

Just read this,
the B18c/b18c4 is also a popular engine for both the EK not as simple as the B16a2 swaps, minor modifications are needed, uprated mounts for one. Is that true? I can't just use my b16b ones?

Possibly, I've got uprated mounts for mine but only because I wanted them. I hadn't actually searched into whether I'd need them.

My mounts are Innovative with 60A bushings. Probably worth investing in new mounts anyway as your current ones are probably worn.
