Kid-Vtek's Canadian EK build: CR-Vtec Turbo

im not sure.... if your not confident in doing the work why would you accept the challenge? Greed gets the best of us sometimes i guess... sigh oh well whats done is done. im just using it as my fire right now.

Got some more work done this weekend. Started test fitting my intercooler. I am not impressed at all by this kit. As expensive as it was i imagined it would be more "bolt on" than it is, but i guess i can do it how i want now.

as you can see, this kit was obviously made for optimum performance, not optimum fitment (enter sarcastic emoticon). I dont like how most people remove the front rebar to fit intercoolers, i am going to modify mine to fit

let the trimming begin

As you can see i cut the middle section out of the rebar and the locating sides so i can still be bolts to the car. ill be getting plates welded to the open sections of the two ends, then connect them with some bar. then ill need to fabricate some brackets to connect to the intercooler tabs and it will be good to go!

I install my carbon fiber type R spoiler

i picked up a carbon fiber hood, trimmed my front bumper for the intercooler. once everything is fabricated and bolted down ill be making some aluminium ducting for the intercooler and rad. i also test fit my J's racing fenders and this is how she sits. pretty dam sexy if you ask me :) more to come

Probably one of the best build ups thus far. Subscribed and I take my hat off to you man. I can only wish of having this level of dedication (and maybe a little slight obsession? :p) with my civic.

Keep up the good work :)

Thanks it really means a lot! This hasn't been the easiest process thats for sure but I'm glad that some people can appreciate what I'm doing and overcoming. Thanks again to everyone for the kind words, it's really keeps me going at times when I'm feeling stressed about the car, to come on here and see all the support. You guys are awesome! I'm very thankful for this community.

Back from the dead!!
its been a long time since my last update.... too long. lots has changed, i have tons of pictures so bare with me
i finally finished my brake line tuck

Picked up a set of extrended wheel studs, only front for now, rear wheel bearings are only sold as a whole hub no seperate bearing...

finished my rebar

Ive given up on all possiblity of body work this year which lead to this...

New vs old

this has been a long time coming

Found this at a local junk yard, i bought some titanium sheet that ill be using to make a block off plate which will house my gauges

mounted my shift linkage

started designing my intercooler brackets. most people hang the intercooler off the rad support, i dont really like that so i went for something more rigid

i also dimple died my rad support, wasnt expecting how much stiffer it would make it

How she sits now

next ill be starting to design my air box and finalizing my intercooler piping fitment/installing my boost clamps. trying to get she running before the snow hits the ground... stay tuned!

very cool thread. not seen it before, love all the fabrication

Thanks guys!
Almost finished designing and building my airbox, very pleased with how it turned out.I have a crabon fiber headlight on the way that is essentially just a duct to feed the air box from the top and my Naca duct will feed it from the front

some card board engineering lol

Naca duct feed

Headlight feed

Finished installing my rear extended wheel studs... unfortunately Hondas are built to rust so most of the bolts rounded off which meant i had to pull the whole rear trailing arms off to get them off.

Also i was finalizing the fitment on my Intercooler piping... or lack there of. the piping that came with the Full Race kit was terrible! Almost contact the right wheel and does not clear the bumper when installed, which led to this

I decided to remake the intercooler piping in 3" instead of 2.5". Let the pie cuts commence

37 pie cuts later heres what i got tacked together. I am extremeley happy with how it turned out. Got rid of the multiple silicone coupler connections and replaced them with a single pipe and two boost clamps. Old VS New

My ducted head light will be in next week so hopefully i can finish my air box then i can begin the exhaust system and finally get her running! stay tuned

Love the effort you put in to this to make it perfect. That metal work is just  Keep it up mate

Love the custom work and fabrication. Wish i was able to do half this work! Good luck with the rest of the build

One of the best builds i've ever seen. Thanks for sharing

Looking forward for the updates, :)
