Just make sure you take your time and clean everything throughly. It's not hard, it just takes time and a lot of patience to do property.

The only part i think that's going to "hard" is getting accurate measurement of parts for clearance etc. using precision tools takes practice, of which I have minimal ATM lol

You need to remember everyone who uses them was in the same position at one point though. All it takes is practice.

For sure man. Only issue is I don't have anyone to check my work to be sure I'm using them properly.

What would you guys clean everything with, Microfibre cloth?
No chemicals or anything I'd assume?

Cool, will grab some brake cleaner before I start.
Which assembly lube did you use? Shouldn't matter too much as long as it's engine lube I'd have thought?

That doesn't matter, as long as you get the same readings you'll be fine. Purchase some plastigauge as well, it's good for confirmation.

I use degreaser, a jet wash, brake clean and kitchen roll. Kitchen roll is much better than any kind of cloth. Use it then throw it away. That way you're sure to keep everything clean.

As for engine lube, any kind of branded lube off ebay should be fine (providing it's not anal lube). You can also use really thick oil. The idea is just to keep everything lubed up well for the first start-up.

Also don't forget to pre-fill the oil filter with engine oil. It will help reduce the amount of time needed for the engine to build oil pressure.

Damn,
Better tell the mrs we need to find another use for this crate of anal lube, she won't be pleased! Lol

Thanks for the tips. Forgot about plasti-gauge.

Lmao, yeah plastigauge is good to have as well. In fact, don't buy any, I will throw you in a free packet with that other stuff. I've got loads of it.

Guess I'm doing it wrong :blinx:

Dare I ask what you used that for?

You know us Honda boys like a bit of loving during work hours ;)

haha was used to slide some new poly engine mounts on an Ep3. Nothing else was to hand and he wanted it done there and then lol.

Lol the fact you've got some is alittle worrying.

So an update is due
Block is at the machine shop getting bored/honed and piston to wall clearnace sorted.
They'd just finished building a block for M&M engineering(ex drift champions apparently)
So just waiting for that to come back.
In the mean time I got plenty of deliveries

Received a micrometer, rod bolt stretch gauge, telescope gauges and some plasti gauge from rich on here, cheers bud!
Also got a new torque wrench and some feeler gauges. Waiting on a piston ring file now
So had a practise with the telescope gauges to make sure I can measure consistantly and accurately.
Decided to measure the rod big ends inner diameter(without bearings)

Torqued the rod bolts down to 10nm to eliminate that variable and got to practising.
Funny enough it was the micrometer I wasn't using perfectly and after I figured this out I was getting pretty consistant results.

Measured each big end 11 times and I'm pretty happy that by the end I can confidently say I can measure a bore down to 0.0002-0.0003"
