Hey guys,

So I've paid for my new shell and I'm getting it with a CF bonnet. I like the weight of it but I've never been too keen on carbon parts (in terms of looks) so I'm thinking about painting it in CW for the OEM look. Has anyone done it? I've done a quick google search and there was a lot of contradictory opinions and it just got me confused lol.

I had my carbon bonnet painted Oem champwhite on my dc2. I didn't paint it myself but a mate so dose my painting done it fine. I left the underside carbon.

I've got a carbon varis bonnet on mine, previous owner got it painted in CW.
You wouldn't tell it was carbon from the outside unless you lifted it.

Good to hear that! If it was for my old car I'd just rattle can the thing but the new shell is so spotless it would look out of place lol. I'm gonna check how much would it cost to have it done professionally. And yeah, not bothered by the underside it's just the top I want painted.

Yeah paint it. I'm painting my car black instead to hide the carbon bonnet haha!

Be careful...its not so easy to get the paint to key to carbon or grp.

^ Indeed, we painted our carbon Seibon wing and you can still see the cf structure through the paint in direct sunlight.

I don't mind, as long as it looks OK from the distance it's fine :D I'm having it done professionally when the car is in one piece again!

Well- when my grp bonnet flew up a lot of paint just 'fell' off it.
- But prior to that it was lifing like mad around the bonnet pins. I got a feeling like I could have peeled it like an orange.

Give the bonnet a really god rub with wet and dry as a minimum. :)
