Surging Dash lights and Battery light

Hey guys ive searched google and this site and found a few answer to the problem im having with the above heading, though nothing seems to exactly add to my own problem........

for the past few months the lights would start surging inside the car and outside..... it went away for a few months again and came back and has been a regular thing on the commute from work. it starts off with surging lights then the battery light flashing slowly, rapidly etc etc then stopping and doing it all over again. sometimes when I speed up it gets faster and when I stop at a junction it goes away. but also can stay going
ive taken a video of it, if anyone of you guys would add me on facebook etc so I can send it on .. im dropping the car to my mechanic in two weeks for some other bits and pieces but I want to try and solve the issue to have a replacement part etc etc ready to go....

Hi prodrifter...I had similar problem ...did a quick test on the battery and identified a poor alternator...changed the alternator, and fitted a better earthing kit.

Alternator sounds like the regulator inside is shot...typical symptoms that you described.
