Well time for a moan, with the new process in place since beginning of October of taxing a car when you buy and a tax refund when you sell I can confirm DVLA are failing miserably.

Anyone else been through the process? They owe us near on £200 in tax back and "promised" it returned 4-6weeks.

It's now been 6 weeks and everytime we call we get told to wait until 6 weeks is up?

Well your time is up, where is our money!

Quick enough to take it but take an age to return it!

Bastards. Just sorned a car today to get a refund while the cars off the road. Hope i don't have the same problem.

In general the dvla is useless now that there is no local offices.

We had major issues with the dvla when trying to tax my girlfriends car. It had previously had a private plate and they hadn't updated their system properly after transferring back to the original plate so we were in able to tax on line or in the post office.

We had to send all the documents off to Swansea, I was informed of the fee I needed to pay so I wrote a cheque and sent it off the same day only to wait 2 weeks to have the application rejected due to the cost of the tax going up (because of the budget) between the time I sent the documents and when they processed the application.

The guy on the phone had neglected to inform me that there was going to be an increase in price in two days time,

Overall it took about 6 weeks to tax a car.

What really takes the piss is that they have one of those investor in people awards.....

I just recently sorn'd my civic (31st october) had 3months tax left on it and i received a cheque thro the door in about 5-6 working days so it worked for me,

But iv heard a few stories of the same above happening so there must still be flaws in there system
