Hi all,

So i found a Mugen Airbox in my brothers garage gathering dust and dirt in his Honda parts warehouse for the last 4 years which i never knew about. Apart from needing a good clean, the black box has a few scratches which i would like to remove. Is there any way these marks can be removed with some sort of polish or have it re sparayed or something? Im really tempted to replace my current HKS induction kit with the Mugen Airbox but the scratches are putting me off. I know that looks are not really important in this case as the Mugen Airbox will still do its job perfectly but its my OCD taking over

Any ideas what can be done to give some life back to the Mugen black box?

Some pics attached below.

Thanks

The box will benefit from a good clean with some vinyl/rubber cleaner. But due to the nature of the woven material it will always have a rough sort of look. Try something like T-Cut on the lid of the box and some polish. If you were that bothered you could get it re-sprayed.

Also it looks to be missing the snorkel at the entrance unless it's laying around?

Thanks for the reply mate, will try some polish and see how it goes or just give it a respray as that sort of kit deserves it :))

Snorkel should be in the same carton box i found the kit in :)

Cheers

You gonna be so happy for Mugen! No "BWAAAAAH" and more power ;) ..

You had allready get help ;)

Not really sure what to do to be honest if keep my current HKS induction kit and help my brother sell on the Mugen Airbox or just buy it myself. Some reviews I have read say that Mugen is way over rated and you just pay for the brand and not really get any major power gains compared to other top brands like HKS. So if im not really going to get any power gains from the Mugen might as well keep my HKS and sell the Mugen Airbox locally.......still so undecided :confused::confused:

B16A2. done 360000 km!

Those scratches look very shallow if not just surface. Go over it with some mild compound and a buffer and see how it comes out. If it still needs more correction you can try and go over it with some very fine grade sand paper and rebuff. In the even there are still imperfections that bother you it'll need to be recleared and sanded to smooth.

Can an induction kit really increase power by 8bhp? :nerv::nerv::nerv:
Yes :) It was the only fraction that was changed ! Was to both dyno measurements. and know the owner .

Same B16A2 now +
B16B camshafts
B16B intake manifold
Hondata S300 V2

Sorry! :D i thought is was a replica!
B18C'R/6 and B16B is the same manifold/TB :)

I'd recommend the airbox, car felt less restrained than the OEM DC2 intake with aftermarket filter, also, that sound! Can't comment compared to the HKS suction? Intake, although I've always been curious about them and here in the UK definitely are rarer than the mugen.

People who tell you 'your just paying for a name' are the people not willing to pay the price for one IMO.

Still need to give the box a good clean and polish and decide if to buy it myself or not ;)

The aim of my thread was not to sell to be honest but to enquire regarding removal of the scratches. I will ask him how much he is looking at and get back to you if I don't take it myself but he would preferibly sell locally.

Cheers
