going in circles trying to decide on a new tablet to buy.
it's for my little one's christmas - his first gen ipad has just given up on life, its slow, not supported anymore and just a pain in the arse getting his films onto.
I've been looking at the Samsung Tab S and been really impressed (I reckon I'd probably steal it sometimes to take to uni to do work on). Also like kids mode, the fact you can extend memory with a card and that films will be a lot easier to sync!
I've never had android before though and have been an apple follower for years. I dont know if id be better off with a newer ipad - but I dont like how they stop supporting products after a few years making them feel obsolete.
then I went to Tesco and spotted the Hudl2 - it seemed slower, and a little bit laggy. but overall really good value. annoyingly it doesnt come in his favourite colour though and you cant buy a case in green either lol - it does seem an alright buy though

so opinions or experience/any other tablets im missing would be great!? I want something thats quick, simple to use for a toddler - while being something I can use occasionally for uni/work, isnt going to be obsolete in a few years or start mysteriously running slow when a new version comes out...

Seen as no one else has piped up I may as well...

For a kid your not going to get anything as easy to use as an Apple device to be honest! Compared to android its so much more intuitive to use. The tech in the new air or mini 3 is pretty good and will feel lighting quick compared to the first gen ipad.

I've used the hudl2 and it seems really good for the money but still not as easy to use and my aunties galaxy tab just seems a second grade product if that makes sense, its nowhere near as nice to use as an ipad IMO.

If it were me I'd go for the iPad mini 3 :nice:

Between the 3 you mentioned I'll for the galaxy tab s, the screen is amazing, and because of the amoled technology, the screen consumes less battery power when watching movies, for example, I watch a 45 minute mp4 file and I consume around 7%-10 of the battery, with the brightness at 100%. I had seen the ipad air and the galaxy tab s in the flesh, and the galaxy tab s, has a far more superior screen than the ipad air.

I changed from and ipad (after 3 years ) to the galaxy tab s 10.5, and I'm very happy with the change. The tablet is fast and has a lot more of goodies, for example the multi window mode, which I use on a daily basis. I got the 16GB version and installed a 32gb micro sd card.

It all depends on what you need and what works for you. But between the 3 you mentioned the galaxy tab s is the one that gets my vote.

Let ke know if you got any more questions about the galaxy tab s, I can help you out :)

I just picked up a 10" Samsung Tab 3 from Argos's ebay store. Its refurbished with a 12 month Argos warrenty and its perfect.

I already have a Galaxy S5 phone so it was easy to pick up.

Most children can pick up any tech these days and figure it out. My tablet also has a kids mode setting

Just been looking at tablets myself for a xmas present for my dad. Went for a 10inch Samsung Tab 3 from argos, brand new from the ebay store for £160.

Great choice, I recently bought a 8inch galaxy tab 3 refurbished and its working ok.

There is a bug in the 10' galaxy tab 3 with the facebook app, if you update it it'll crash almost instantly, keep in mind this if you use this app on a daily basis. :)
