Hi guys n gals iv got my funds more or less here now to source out my k24 swap, I'm going to be using my k20 ep3 head and already have rdx injectors, breathing mods and kpro, the head already has drag cartel dic cams in there but I'm looking for something bit more aggressive, either going for drag cartel 2.2 or drag cartel stage 4, I will build needed head parts aswel as bottom, I'm looking to get s2000 oil pump with erl kit, I want to get the most out of the car powerwise and it will see some 1\4 mile runs however I want to drive the car daily when I pleas aswell and dont just want it to be a drag car, what the best compression to run for this on either chosen cam spec, crank will be balanced and looking to bore but not sure how much, advice will be appreciated.

Assuming you have access to the dyno and a tuner you can get the drag cartel stage 4 and be safe with a compression of up to 12.0-12.5 max. Like I said again with proper tunning. Some people complain about the rough idle of the cartel stage 4, keep in mind this.

Ask your tuner to see what he feels comfortable with. :)

I have cartel 4 with 12.5cr in my car and let me tell you the combination of cartel 4 and 90mm throttle body it make's it a bitch to drive it but i dont give a rats ass. I love it how they idle rough..
what i hate the most is highway driving with my ctr NPR3 with 4.7 final drive.. i really hate it lol lol

Yea I spoke to romain, he suggested the 2.2 drag cartel with 12.5 comp, for street set up, but did say to check the clearance issues with my builder 1st

Most of the aftermarket pistons have deep relief pockets to prevent P2V contact and since the 2.2 is smaller than 4 i dont think it will be an issue..

Skunk2 have new cams coming out for the K series, might be worth holding out for a set of those!

Dave is claiming big numbers with those cams that its kind of hard to believe..
like the dyno they posted the other day on f.b

I'm optimistic, David Hsu is a pretty smart guy. I certainly will be up for testing these new S2 camshafts when they become available!

Yes he is smart no doubt
but do you actually believe that much of a gain just by cams alone ?

I haven't seen any graphs... I don't expect massive gains but even if they make 4hp more than a comparable set of cams from i.e DC then the end user will be happy. I've always felt there(S2) cams for K series lacked a little, they remind me of the Tuner series for B series, very well behaved idle etc but lack the low-midrange torque you achieve with Pro series cams...

Ohh yeah agree with you on that.. any type of gain or even same power but cheaper price will beat the competitor..
this was the set up they dyno
88x99 motor
14+ compression
Stock port head
his new ultra street version cams ( not even the race version )
Dyno at 345 whp
now you tell me if it is even possible or believable
