My Ek9 track car build up

Bit of an update on this, progress has been a little slow due to waiting on parts and being sent two wrong bushes,

While waiting I blasted and painted the brackets that hold the arb and wishbone rear bush brackets, gave all the bolts a good clean, also finished removing the power steering (properly) then set about making new brake lines to suit the non abs valve.

Also got the clutch pedal re fitted and a new clutch m/c.

Finally got the right bushes fitted and bolted the arms back to the car,

Got some new drop links and track rod ends to fit next.

Also decided to order the front section and door bars to go with the rear cage I have on order.

Got to decide what suspension I'm going to go for next. I have some gaz coilovers but the spring rate is fairly soft on them and I'm not sure the damping could cope with a much stiffer spring,

Thanks for reading!

Changed both outer seat bolster foams this morning, not exciting but was well worth doing,

This looks amazing. Can you actually buy replacement foam insert?

Few updates,
Stripped the rear inside, outside and underneath and started to clean, some clever bugger had siliconed the rear lights in so that needs scraping off and there's also a few little bits of rust to clean back where the bumper sits,

Once it's re painted it will get a coat of dinitrol behind the bumper.

Also removed the rear seat brackets. Got a few bits of rust where the spare wheel had been knocking around

Cage should be here in the next week or so:win:

I've also Stripped all the rear suspension and brakes down, removed the back plates from the rear arms and blasted them and put on a coat of etch primer, the rta bushes have been replaced not that long ago so they are fine but the arms will be blasted and painted to freshen them up.

Bushes in the lca's are past their best so looking to get some hardrace lca's or a set of new bushes and will also need new drop links as the old ones would not come in done so we're cut off.
I think that's it up to now, thanks for reading

Looking forward to the cage pics. I just know I'm going to end up with one after seeing yours in!

Shouldn't be to long now, last time I spoke to them they said the delivery should be in the country around the 14th and with Chris birkbeck/go rally A few days later, and with me a few days after that.

Also got some fixed back seats to go in, not anything special but will do for now

Cool, I'll be watching your updates to see what you think of the fitment/quality etc can't be having the aggro I had with the weld in I had last time round, took me a good week to get it in and fitted half decent.

This arrived on Monday, only just had time to start to unwrap it today

Didn't realise it had additional mounts where the seat belts normally bolt to

Also got some aluminum hardrace lca's coming, Rta's have been blasted and painted, and the fuel tanks been stripped back and stone chipped, ready for a coat of grey top coat

looking forward to the rest mate. Will you be fixing the amount of rust in the back?

Yeah that will be cleaned back and taken care of, once the foot plates for the cage are welded in the interior will be given a fresh coat of white:nice:

Small update,
Back plates and toe control arms blasted and painted in satin black (2k) and some nice lca's that I bought from @Stokes :nice:

Another small update, been very busy with other jobs but have managed to squeeze in a bit of time on the ek9,

Got the cage trial fitted ready to tack the foot plates in place, then I have to remove the cage again to finish the welding and paint the floor.

Also got some more ocd underbody cleaning done

For those that don't recognise it that's where the rear trailing arm mounts to the body,

That's about it for now, thanks for reading.

Small up date, not been able to do a lot on the car due to starting a new buisness, however I got a few hours work done over the last week.

Stripped the paint out of the spare wheel well as there were areas of paint rubbed off and rust where the spare had been beating around

Put some primer on and blew a bit of stone chip in to help protect the spare wheel well

Thinking about doing the interior grey like this

Also tempted to go for a green on the cage like this

Alternatively stick with good old white.

I've also bought a cobra Suzuka seat so will be selling the recaros eventually as they don't fit well with the cage in.

Hopefully some good updates soon

Keep the inside white. With the green cage will look amazing! Be careful with the cage if you can use a matt lacquer as you don't want the a pillars to blind you

This is one of my concerns, being blinded by bright white and green, especially in the rear view mirror as well as the pillars,
I can mix the green in 2k with a Matt binder, as you say that should help reduce the glare off it.

The main reason for thinking about the grey is it will be easier to keep clean as I'm going to be carrying spare wheels, tools etc at times

I'm lucky in that mine is silver and always looks clean. Could always use and old bed sheet to put down before you put your tools in?

Yeah I will have to do something like that, it will only be for taking tools and spares to track days etc. decided to go with white now!

Got a few bits over the last few days,

Got a cobra Suzuka seat, these are probably one of the best shaped seats I've ever sat in amazingly comfortable and nice and deep, and still just in fia date, looking for another now.

Also picked up a set of hsd monopro's. Second hand for a bargain price, and only 2 months old
