Jesse888 Forged/stroker turbo ek9

Interested to see how yours fits. Doesnt meet msa approval does it?

All in good time bud, absolutely MUST start enjoying this car, I'm in danger of being labeled a parts whore/hard Parker if I don't get back out there!

I'm not sure, I've not even unwrapped mine yet. i don't really know the regulations,
I've heard it would as long as the foot plates are welded in properly etc. the tube size and wall thickness are supposedly ok to meet msa regs.
It's the best bolt in cage your going to get

Is it dash dodger or through the dash? Prefer through the dash if I'm honest.

Going to wait until yours is in lol Defo want bolt in though.

It is a dash dodger, but not a double bend type,

The eg6 bolt in cage that they do that is also a dash dodger and looks nearly the same is marked as msa/fia approved. May have to email them to confirm if it is or why it's not msa approved.

Not that I'm fussed about it as It'l never be used for competition

I'd like an approved one just in case you know, not that I can get into anything other than time attack now lol

Quick update on the cam cover.
New gaskets from tegiwa and its fitted at last! Looks much much better than my old bodge job.
Cut the breather lines down alittle bit to pull my catch can up vertical(not mounted to anything just hanging off the lines)
Found a fair bit of gunk in the breather lines and up the walls of the catch can. None on the cover or filler cap though so I think I can rule out headgasket for now. Probably where I haven't had the chance to get it all hot, the b16b used to do that even when it was n/a so I'm not too worried about that.
Waiting on my oul delivery then I can get the car into track mode, can't wait to see it with the sideskirts back on!(simple things please simple minds!)
Anyway Heres some pics of the cover, stay tuned for track ready pics tomorrow!

There's always hill climbs and sprints as well,

You may be better off with a weld in then, like a custom cages clubman and just add to it at a later date,
One reason I got the S-D cage is because it's easy to remove and sell on if/when I've had enough of the car

Really dont want the aggro of welding another cage in!

Gonna miss those seats :(

Least they are finally going to get some use.

Will look great with a cage :nice:

No pleasing you is there! Lol

Nah lol was such a mission last time. Bolt in is what I'll get eventually for sure.
Anything is better than nothing but approved is better you know?

Except cusco, that's supposedly worse than nothing in a good crash,
Apparently omp cages meet some sort of FIA standard, it's a pretty basic cage though and needs additional welding anyway

Just read the whole thread Jesse, well done on the build mate. Hope you get plenty of headache free boost miles! :nice:

I'm not sure there is such a thing as headache free boost miles tbh lol
We can pray though!

Oil change today to fully synth.
Got abit of brand loyalty going on with millers atm, so got some of this.

Drained the old stuff, was expecting to see abit more swarf on the sump plug, found a larger piece stuck to it this time round.

Alittle concerned, seen as the oil only did around 150miles, this is the batch it was mapped on. Once I took it off i cleaned it up and it was shiney and all one piece so not sure where it's come from, possibly a piston ring but the engines still pulling strong and no smoke etc. Perhaps it's been in there awhile, you'd think it would have come out with the oil when it's been changed though so....
Either way the car goes to Brands Hatch Wednesday. If it's going to get worse it will on track so I'll find out!

Could just be a burr from a thread like the sump plug or something that was hidden in your new cam cover that's worked its way out.
if something was failing in there there would most likely be more then one piece

I've been thinking so much lately about what I want to do about the cage, I really don't like dash dodgers, the further away those pipes are from my body the better. Spoke to the guys at SOS motorsport yesterday when Logan had his car mapped, and I'm gonna get them weld it in - the whole cage welded in including going through the firewall to the front turrets, gussets, rear cross and harness bars and including painting will be a few hundred quid more than SD bolt in job. A no brainer in my books, especially since the car atm is just an empty rolling shell... Think I'm gonna be eating grass and road kill for the next two months but hey, it might just save my life one day! You should come up to Scotland for a road trip /Knockhill blast this summer Jesse I want to see the beast! :)
