One thing left to do and I'm at the point I can start the car now after the rebuild.

Whats the best procedure people use prior to turning the key and starting it up? Any tips?

Just wanted to check I'm doing everything right.

Fill engine with fluids i.e engine oil and coolant. Remove the spark plugs and disconnect distributor plug(so your not dumping fuel into cylinders) then crank the engine over until you see oil pressure build up. After that simply refit spark plugs and connect distributor and fire it up!

I'm assuming you ment to say disconnect injectors also?

I pulled the plugs on the injectors first time round, didn't take plugs out though.
Will be sure to take plugs out and disconnect distributor this time round.

Unless the ecu cant see where the crank is so wont fire the injectors?
Ah ha yes that could be the answer! I pulled my injector plugs before just because they are easy to pull off

When you say disconnect distributor plug...i'm guessing you mean literally pull the plug for it on the loom?

Would it be advisable to have the oil pressure gauge on the car for first start? Can I just go off the light? I've got one but my wiring isn't gunna be done for a little while...

I just went off the oem light.

Yes just disconnect the large single plug.

Yes I would advise fitting a oil pressure gauge. It only takes a few psi to turn off the oil light on dash. You want to be sure the engine is making decent oil pressure.
