Bushell's OEM+ Nine

Ok pal. Was having a wee nosey through your thread trying to find the same stuff you used. I got Dinitrol cavity wax and that was it haha. But i will take note to use zinc primer.

Zinc primer is good, but try not to get to much build with it, the high content of zinc flake in some zinc aerosols can cause bonding/film strength issues,

A light coat followed by a coat of regular aerosol primer or aerosol stone chip and then a top coat would probably be your best solution,

Top it all off with some dinitrol 4941 (black) or bilt hamber uc clear if you prefer or wax oil

Ok, so just a light covering of Zinc Primer, then normal primer, then a top coat of paint? The lastly 4941?

For the cavities and seams either dinitrol 3125 or bilthamber dynax s50, both are very similar and have good penetration

Minted mate. Will add it all to my ever increasing shopping list. Thanks for the help mate.

A coat of over paintable stone chip before the top coat in any hard wearing areas like the lower part of the front panel and behind the rear bumper is a good idea also,

Ah ok. Going to have a look and see what products are out there. Any suggestions on brands etc?

Dynax S50 is horrible stuff, but does work well. I used it on mine to inject the sills and inner rear arches etc.

Zinc primer will be far less prone to rust for sure.

Any bilt and hamber products will be fine, or dinitrol also.

Sweet. Been a great help the pair of you. Hopefully get this done at some point this year.

The central vertical bar at the front of the car is quite rusty. Will i be able to treat it in the same way?

Yes, you may benefit from using something like bilthamber deox gel for heavy rust deposits,

If you wire brush and chip away loose stuff then apply the gel in a thick coat and wrap with cling film to stop it drying out for a couple of days it will eat away and break down the rust, you will need to wipe it off and clean it up and re rotary wire brush it after,

It's quite time consuming/slow but is a good way of removing the rust with out taking away to much good metal around it,

If you google it you should find some good guides on how to use it

Will have a look into that. Would be worried it might eat all the way through. Not sure if i need a new panel.

Been an educational weekend thats for sure.

Got a picture of it?

Just had a look on lings and that panel is listed separately, if it's still available is another matter I guess

Unfortunately not. Will get one at the weekend. Hopefully they do. £28 is not a bad price either....

So got a little collection of parts building up from the last month or two....

Went to the car today to get a few things done but got there later than I wanted to so all I did today was put it back together, bumpers, side skirts wings and arch liners all bolted back on, also cut up the standard air pipe to make a cold air feed after removing the resonator. Took the opportunity to remove the rocker cover too, mainly to check the condition of the timing belt as I wasn't sure when it was last changed but it looks in pretty good condition as did the spark plugs.

Should be getting my wheels back next week from the body shop so will get the tyres fitted, new coilovers fitted and hopefully be good to go after that. Then it will just be the rest of the wee bits and bobs to fit.

Only picture I took today :(

Nothing to exciting unfortunately, thanks for reading anyway :)

About bloody time there was some progress here..... You using the lca's now? Good lad!

I know man. I just want to play haha. Still door lock is probably the worst job that still needs done so not really looking forward to that :(.

Yeah i convinced myself to use them. Got blue in the engine bay so it will be fine

Got the urge to work on the car today as well so made the hour long trip to go and see it,

First job was the window regulator/motor. Should have been an easy 15 minute job, but due to the car sitting and window not being used at all it was all seized in place so it was a bit of a nightmare to get done but got it out in the end.

Next was to check the passenger door lock as it had became very sticky just before I put it off the road. I had bought a second hand item to replace it with but turns out it just needed lubed up now its as good as new.

Last job was to fit the new coilovers, fronts not a problem nice and easy. Rears, well they needed washers to fit and I didn't have them so they will be done next time.

Tried to replace the lca's as well but the outer bolt was rather tight so it got sprayed with wd40 and will be left until next weekend I think.

See how you've kept your 9 in a secret undercover fritzl dungeony place? does your interior or car even, not mould up from dampness etc? I'm basically jealous of how clean yours is
