Upgrading to 4 pots - dust seals?

Had it happen on two of my cars now, even rebuilt the calipers on my saxo, then replaced them completely, two sets of juddering discs later and the only thing left I hadn't changed was the pads :(
Been fine on the 9 till recently and now it has judder just like the saxo. Doesn't seem to just be me, know an s2000 and another saxo that have had the exact same problem after a while. Just think they're totally overrated. Probably fine for tootling about roads though

I have had the judder. Cleaned up the carriers and filed the paint off the pads where they mate to the carriers and all was well. Ive destroyed redstuff pads in the same way you have destroyed the 2500s. The pad gets stuck on the carrier and cant move away from the disc. Heating the pad up, giving you horrible judder and a crap brake peddle.

Heres hoping the new setup provides trouble free braking.

Hi Nicole, I think they were Mintex 1144's or 1155's. Cant remember now as it was a long time ago.

My GTi was extremely light so that must of helped, but the braking was excellent on the road and track, if cold and when warmed up.

Not put a thread up just yet but thinking about selling my Wilwoods, so may not get a chance to review them for you guys.

I've started to buy items for the car which I don't really need as of yet. Will get some track time in first. Then make decisions where I want to improve.
If I'm not happy with my braking I can always buy another set down the line.

^this is the smart thing to do IMO.
I honestly feel the limit of the standard calipers/discs is a a lot further than most think.

I think people forget, our brakes are what the rest of the 6th gen and before upgrade to!

Thats it.
I'm sure I'll find out what effect the extra power we run has on the brakes but so far from 200hp to the low boost 250ish I've run at brands (twice) I've yet to notice any fade/wear/judder etc at all so far..

Looking forward to hearing your review on the yellow speed package

The calipers and 2 piece discs should work very well, what pads do you need for the Yellowspeed calipers?

I haven't read through the whole thread (naughty) but with standard rotors and calipers you could do worse than Pagid RS4-2 and a fluid upgrade before trying to mess around with new size anything. I ran this on my EK9 for a number of years (the rear pads are ten years old and still have lots of meat) before upgrading to big front brakes.

You could also try cooling them with ducting but unless you're hitting 200km/h plus regularly it's not going to be much benefit unless the ducting is 3 inch (not much room in the front bumper of an EK!), especially if hard street/race brake pads need to get up to temp to be effective.

Interested to know what you've decided?
