pics of when i purchased it!

after a polish and some rain lol!

thats how i got her, decided i needed to start some work so here we go...

n/s/r caliper was siezed so contacted BIG RED (top guys) and had it refurbed, came back like new all within 2 days!!

new thermostat and coolant! done a fair bit of research and bmw coolant is fine for our hondas, just to note ive read a fair bit of info on the subject and even some blue coolant contains ingrediants that are not good for honda waterpump seals

new slave cylinder as old one was leaking! brand new parts yum yum! bled the clutch also feels good now,

decided to start work in the engine bay, just inspect absoloutly everything, and polish/clean everything yes before you ask even my wife tells me i have a strange habit of cleaning lol.

polished the front grill tell me what you think, dont think it came out to bad for novice skills lol

polished a few random items also

managed to seat the radiator properly today with the proper grommits, i hate little things like that when their not done properly!

thought i would get started on the bay,

bumper off, got to love the quick release!! :)

out with the cooler ready to paint...

sourced a low milage rack from a ek9 (66k) :0 that was propery converted to manual steering no loop kits here mate! sanded that down and painted should be on next week, get some pics tomorrow..

should be done tomorrow, bay cleaning in progress a few before and afters..

yuk makes me feel sick lol and some after shots, hard work this fingers are hurting lol!

managed to underseal the front lower slam panel..

ive had it a month or so and have done alot to the car, the car after it was tuned it made 360@1bar at the flywheel :) the engine started to smoke after a while :0
under inspection found stem seals were worn and cylinder 3 was down on compression slightly, it was quite wierd as when i let of the throttle and back on again it would get a puff of smoke :'( first thought it was the turbo but checked it and it looked/felt brand new....

so i decided as i didnt know the history of the build and spending so much on the car already i wanted to do things properly, and know what has been done,
i sourced a low milage engine and started the rebuilt of which i dont have many pictures unfortunatly
spec,
low milage b18, head resurfaced vavle seats done valves lapped in stem seals done, got the head pressure tested before the build. lots of new seals on the engine :) like to keep it fresh! wire brushed the block and head and painted, bottom end fully inspected and shells, like a good looked after honda engine they looked brand new. got lots of new parts to keep it fresh and working how a reliable honda engine should....

to do,
underseal whole car... inspect everything
polish/clean rest of engine bay,
polish car, < any good sites for products cheap??
valet interior,
fix one or two rattle gremlins,
refurb dizzy, new leads and inner workings, << any ideas on parts etc where to get ?
rta bushes,
install a new ek9 rack, (already got just getting it ocd freindly and working lol)

future plans,
looking to get a built b18 sleeved block,, pistons rods the lot, with a proper sheepy or autoworks turbo kit, looking for around 5/550hp run coil on plug converter ( dizzy weak point) :) :) :)
watch this space! an comments or suggestions would be appreciated, but dont slag me off as its not nice and i wouldnt do it to anyone elses car neither.!

and some teaser pics let me kno what you think!

my old eg miss her was my second car :(

Is this the one that got passed around a bit a few months back?
If so its good to see it being given attention and being taken care of once again, keep up the good work

I believe it is! Really wanted this car when it first came up for sale, then kept popping up! Great looking car! Keep up the good work...definately watching this thread (550 bhp )

yes it is that car :), i was baffled as to why its a streight mint car! from what i found out both owners realised that its a machine not a daily driven car. The thing with this car is, if you drive it like a daily thats when you hate it, but when you drive it for what it was built for then thats when you realise what a machine it is lol :) thanks for the comments means alot!

thanks man! the 550hp is on its way, but i dont know weather to stay at this power level because the car is an animal, it dont just spin like most hondas it handles and out a corner just propels you into the distance lol, and with 550hp it will be more of a drag car and ill probably be going against what it is built for, im thinking to put that engine into another eg or ek shell what do you think?

400 < is enough for a road fwd car. As you say any more then stick to straight roads lol

................update :)...............

managed to sneak away from the family today to work on her lol, done quite a bit in 2.5hrs
what i done:
Intercooler sanded and painted matt black :) looks so smooooth (yumyum).. decided that the front girll mesh needed to be painted matt black also to match the intercooler. i managed to underseal the steering rack properly, getting it ready for next weekend. i painted the whole front slam panel in underseal so it looks nice and smooth and rust proof FTW! cleaned intercooler hoses and painted pipes. painted quick release hatch stalk thingys and removed catches ready for the sandblaster, started to sand down the front wiper arms as they were feeling sorry for them selves.

picssss...
here we go with the cooler

sanding it down ready for paint

painted and done, so smooooooth :) really impressed with the way it came out for a rattle can jobby

got the grill all prepped ready to spray the mesh matt black to match the cooler, what do you guys think? matt black bonnet catches or shall i spray and laquer them???

after it was done :)

got the cooler piping sprayed and cleaned of the rubber hoses, could have came out better finish to be honest but it will do.

undercoated and sealed the entire slam panel :) looks so nice and feels amazing to work on a clean protected car.

all back together now..

and the rack which i should be doing next weekend... quick question... has anyone fitted the rack poly bushes, is it worth it, does it make a difference???

and a pic of the painted engine sneaky one ;)

started on the wiper arms as they were just feeling sorry for them selves.

.

to do....
sandblast and paint bonnet catches, shall i go matt black or a laquer???
fit rack, are the rack poly bushes worth it? do they make a difference??
Remove and properly refit front bumper lips and canards.. And polish
clean rest of engine bay, including rocker cover,
buy dizzy parts and leads etc. any good places??
and re undercoat the whole car...
untill next time :) as always let me know what you think :)

it is'nt exactly stealth.... but damn good!

update!

small update, got a few things done....

some sand blasting action on the bonnet catches as they were a bit of a mess and decided it would look better in matt black

cleaned up the overflow pipe,

new bolt for the screemer as that kept coming loose,

boost pipe done black :) looks much better, i think their was too much going on in the bay before

little sneeky of the tool setup

parts are here!!

bumper stripped down so the winlets and the arc fins were cleaned and bumper polished and refitted properly

lip bolted on properly as it was rattleing around!

polished!

back to the dizzy,

had a new ignition coil fitted, new rotor, new cap, new leads, and some new plugs :)

time to start polishing the bay and finishing it off now, here we go

^ started on the I.M so i dont get lazy and have to polish it as it stares at me every day lol!

as the bay stands now! still needs finishing off and the boost pipe looks 1000% better in real life im well impressed with the results, got the clean the rest of the bay and time up the dizzy and were done!

quick sneeky of the bumper now fitted

need to finish the front end in the next couple of days underseal the underside, and get the rack fitted, will post pics of the finished bay asap!!

as always comments are always helpfull

Good stuff, it's certainly looking better all the time.
How come you removed the distributor to fit the coil? I usually do them in place to save getting the timing light out.

Now that would have been a smart idea!
But i have never had one apart so i thought i would take it off incase it decided it didnt want to come apart lol. I so want coil on plug kit.

right a bit of an update!
time to start that steering rack ive been promising everyone i would do lol
Wheel off

taped up into position not the best but had to use what i had!

right next, get that cover of its just a dust boot two clips and a tug and its off

now time to remove the knuckle, two 10mm bolts and a bit of a wiggle and its off, follow up the steering colum and a c bracket held in by two bolts and will give you some play to manovure it out

right next, remove the nuts and a little tap and off they should pop

no pics for this bit i got a bit carried away, but the steering rack is a bit tricky to remove first you will see a thin plate that needs to be removed sits in the centre of the subframe and is held in with around 6 bolths i think, the exhaust will have to be removed or pushed out the way so get removing that, now remove the two bolts holding the rack in and on the otherside the bolts for the bracket, now it helps to turn the rack full lock to the nearside and with a little bit of shimmying it should slide out

the new rack, 66k miles ek9 and properly converted to manual, no loop kits here!

wheel bolts polished! and a little teaser

a freinds 458 went out in this and the only word that describes it is ART. just pure art mind my little coussin apparently his freinds wouldnt beleive he had seen a ferarri lol!

new bleed nipples

and soo much want

how the bay looks atm

carpets started to get a good old clean

oh and i took the car to the tuner for a once over, dialed in the ignition timing properly and a quick look, everything seems to be running fine,

next jobs,
get geo done
underseal the whole car doesnt need it but you guys know me by now lol
and a full interior clean, and a polish on the outside!
