I recently purchased a 2nd hand carbon bonnet for my civic and it's covered in scratches, almost all of them you can not feel with your nail. Iv started the process of wet and dry sanding and started with 800 but seems it hasn't touched any of the scratches.

What to do ?

Carry on sanding with 800 and then keep working up to 2500 paper then machine polish ect

Use a heavier paper then 800 to start with

Or take it to a body shop to re lacquer

Cheers

I've noticed some bodyshops don't like dealing with carbon as it requires patience when repairing. Sounds like the scratch may have gone through to the resin (layer in between carbon and lacquer)
I would carry on with the wet and dry but try and sand the area equally see if it smooths out. Use 800 - 1500- 2500
When i wanted my carbon mirrors relaquering the bodyshop I deal with didn't have time to prep the mirrors and wasnt confident so i prepped them and he clear coated them.
Took me 1 hour to do 2 flippin mirrors lol. The guy at the bodyshop was impressed and offered me a job on the spot haha. Use some fairy liquid with warm water.

I had just reconditioned my Seibon carbon bonnet on the weekend.

Try some fibre glass polish such as Peeks and wet sand before hand
