Afternoon guys,

I've got a track day looming so I need to get a few issues sorted out.

I'm running a td05 turbo from racetech, mapped on hondata by Will@RDT.

Recently my cooling has become a bit of an issue, I'm running a half size ally rad, buddy club low temp fan switch. My gauges are motor meter ones, not mega cheap but not defi or stack quality.

Recently my gauge showed 100 degrees C whilst pottering around town. The eml came on and it went into limp mode.

The turbo coolant lines are ran from the back of the block and it goes back into the head near the top rad hose. It's always been like this but it's only recently it's become an issue? I haven't checked my thermostat but it's only a few months old.

I'm stuck for ideas as to what's going on. I'm probably missing something stupid here but it's driving me nuts trying to work it out.

Liam.

You not losing coolant or anything? Doesn't seem like the routing of the pipes etc are incorrect so I'd be looking at the standard causes for overheating.

Nope not losing coolant at all. The standard temp gauge doesn't move above normal at all. I'm thinking it's the aftermarket gauge to be honest, when it's running it's showing nearly 100 but when the car is off, but ignition on its showing between 80 and 90? The gauge reading is taken from the port that goes through the inlet into the head at the back.

Assuming the eml is caused by the temp then it's not the gauge....

I forgot to mention, this has all happened since I was going to replace the fan switch but then got dragged away with something else and forgot to plug it back in before I went for a drive.

I'm going to whip the thermostat out and see if it's failed.

The ecu should have a separate wire for the fan. Basically if the fan switch fails then the ecu drops an earth to this wire and that turns the fan on.
I guess it depends on your ecu though.

Ok well I've just checked the thermostat and its moving when submerged in boiling water. I can't think of anything else? Unless the water pump has failed?

The coolant system is all bled fine, fan kicks in when it should too. It just gets hotter and hotter even with the fan on?

It didn't over heat as such, the oem gauge never moves above the normal marker but my aftermarket gauge says it's closer to 100 degrees running. When not running but ignition on, it's between 80 to 90 degrees.

After spending a couple of hours on it now, I've rebled the system again, the gauge was sat at 80 then fan came on like it should, all was peachy until the gauge sort of spiked and it shot over to 120 degrees and back down again. So the gauge is faulty.

I'm about to go do a road test and see how it runs. Will report back when I'm back home.

Tuned in, would be interesed to know what this issue is. Whats your oil temps?

Just to update this again after the road test, all seems well now. Gauge indicated between 80 and 85 all night, regardless of speed or boost which is good news.

Hi guys just spotted this not sure how old it may be lol.. Im new to the page and looking for ecu for my boosted c4 crome or hondata ?? Anyone on here have what i need for sale. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
