Hi guys

So I'm in the middle of sourcing some suspension for my civc. While I am at it I want to upgrade my rear lower control arms, but what I want to know with so many brands is there any significant difference in the brands? As there is alot to choose from i.e. Skunk2, Cyberspeeds, BWR etc.

Has anyone had any personal recommendations or experiences with any of these?

Oh and I assume I am wise to pre-purchase some LCA bolts too as I hear they sometimes snap off

I don't think there's any significant difference between them besides the bushings and appearance really. There's plenty of fakes ones out there though (especially Skunk2 ones I hear).

I personally recommend the poly bushed BWR ones, I've got them on mine and they're great. They look awesome too! Function7 LCAs are also nice, however the drop link holes are NOT threaded so I chose BWR since those are :)

It is common I've heard for the bolts to snap, I was lucky but yeah it's wise to purchase some just in case you need them. Don't want to be stuck half way through the job.

I assume you want them for an EK?

You won't go wrong with genuine Skunk2. The good thing about Skunk2 is that if and when the bushes need to be replaced they are on the shelf.

We have them on our website along with genuine Honda rear bolts.

Thanks

I've got skunk2 with no problems, I obtained these as the bushes are easily obtainable as mentioned by tegiwa.

OEM FTW.

I have Cyberspeed ones and haven't had any issues with them.

I would drench the standard bolts with wd40 or similar before you swap them over. You may need to get some heat on the bolts too.

I had a right mare getting one of my bolts out recently.
I'd removed it about a year or so ago but this time it was seized solid.
Tried all the gypsy tricks like hammer and heat but no luck.
Had to grind half way through the bolt(grinding disc is too small to go straight through) then turn it 90degrees and repeat until I got through it.
Lucky I had a spare really.

Also on stock arms with hardrace bushes, don't really see the point in fancy pants arms other than to look good.

Quoted for da truuf!

OEM all the way!
Spend your money elsewhere...
Thank us later!

Function 7 would be my choice, it's very light and strong. Bushings are a lot thichker than OEM.
One important thing about installing rear LCAs, do not tighten the the three bolts while the car is raised. YOu want to tighten them when the bushings are preload (when its on the ground), this will helps bushings from worn out.

This actually applies to all undercarriage components that have bushes, not just the rear LCA, to prevent premature wear.

I had F7 Rear LCAs. Looked good and were lighter than the stock arm

When I done mine I went with skunk2 for the readily available bushings , been on car 4 years and still look in good condition.

I used to run skunk 2. thought the idea of a split bush with an inner collar was terrible. Through the forces on the car the bushes would pop out eaiter side. Ended up throwing them in a skip after a year.

I'd personally suggest an LCA with an OEM style bush. The cyberspeed or D2 ones are good and you can remove the bushes easily enough with the grub screws.
