EK9 Racecar

Test fitted my new gauges, decided I prefer the analogue style.
Also minus the hoods.

Started my roll cage prep today, it should arrive just before my first track day..... I hope!

There was a lot of dust and dirt behind the trim! All clean now!

looking good, when you have the interior out it would be a good time to check the inner arches and spray some protection in there to stop anything ever starting. getting the headliner off is a bit of a pain, the mirror brackets rotate 90 degrees then pop out, the light is a screw and a plug, there are also some plugs that hold the rear of the roof liner up which are a mare. ive used a fork before to pry them out as its really easy to damaged the liner or dirty it.

Yes I did notice some slight corrosion! I'll be sorting that out. The cage I'm getting is a safety devices cage, I think it can be fitted without removing the headliner, I'm taking the rear out cause race car lol, but you can still have the rear seats in with this cage.

Started to referb a spare dizzy.

Shot basted the casing, going to lacquer it.

Yeh it's come up very well! Like new.

Track day prep is underway, took the car to work today to have a check over and to fit this

I love the shifter! The drive home was with a big grin on my face :))

Also I have bought myself some track wheels, saw some rota grids on FB going cheap, they have some slight kerbing marks and needed a good clean, but they'll be perfect for track wheels.
Tyres for them turned up today

I knew that getting the wheels to fit nice in the arches is going to be a bit of a project, arch liner has got to go! :lol:And arches rolled, I think I'm going to buy a set of cheap wings and do a lot of rolling / bending lol! I don't want to destroy the stock wings, will take them off and store away.
Any help / suggestions would be great :nice:
Here's some pictures of what I'm up against. I'm actually really looking forward to playing with the bodywork / getting them to fit!

Going to be difficult to get the rears to clear with out ruining your nice clean rear arches.

Yeh that's what I was thinking.... Fronts I can sort but the rear is more tricky.
Do you think the design of the wheel doesn't help?

What offset are they? You could always run staggered and have 7"s on the rear,

Also It would work out cheaper to buy 2 more wheels than it would be to have the arches modified and rear quarters painted

I really don't like flared out arches on ek's it never looks right

Can't remember the offset of the top of my head, I'll have a look tomorrow.

I agree, I'm reluctant to mess about with the rear arches.

Do you think I'd be better ditching the wheels altogether and getting narrower all round?

It's really down to what you want to do,
My personal opinion though is that it will likely be more trouble than it's worth to run such big (and probably heavy compared to 15x7) wheels and wide tyres,
Such a wide tyre is going to be harder to get heat in to

I'm going to be using 15x7 et 40's on mine, 195/50/15 ad08's, it's pretty much tried and tested set up that should be ample on track considering the mild power of the b16b.

Mine are 16x8 et 30iirc but ive also managed to squeeze a 5mm spacer on it aswell.
My arches are pretty knackered anyway so I just pulled them far as I could and then spaced the wing out at the bottom. Ghetto as **** but it seems to have worked lol
Have a small pull in the rear but I'm only 7j on the back, I'd agree with b16mini, a 195/50/15 is fine for b16b. Not like your trying to put a lot of torque down through the front wheels

Snap On Verdict! Same as me :))
It's a good tool man, the new ones are too big imo. When the next couple of updates come out they're putting autodata reference material on too :))
Have you seen those new workstation diagnostics?
My local snap on keeps trying to flog it too me.... :blabla:

I'm wanting to go wider at the front of my car and I was planning to run the pair of 16x7 that I have on the rear then get a pair of 16x8's for the front with an offset of 30 or lower

I would assume that these are 16x8 et20? I may be interested in 2 of your wheels if someone else wanted the fronts to run a staggered setup or even yourself? You could use a 15x7 or a 16x7 rota grid on the rear and even use extended studs and a hubcentric spacer to lower the offset of the 7" wheel a bit. I have rolled the rear arches neatly on the teg and can fit 16x7 et42 with 215 wide semi slicks and a 15mm spacer without any rubbing so that's at et27 on the rear

For the front wings, I have just finished rolling and pulling a bit and I made an aluminium plate to space the bottom of the wing out, then spacers where the wing attaches at the front to give good clearance
