I'm going to be rebuilding my engine soon.....

I've got some specialist tools such as: Dti gauge,
Piston ring compressor / pliers
Feeler gauges
Micrometer's
Torque wrenches

Just wondered if there's any others that I'm going to need?
It's my first full engine rebuild so I just want to have all the right tools.

Also links to where I can buy the tools would be great too.

Thanks
Sam

Do the rings and bearings need doing ? Or are you going high comp stroker?

Lol I'm not giving away what my build is just yet.
Just assume I'm doing the lot. What tools do you need etc....

Engine stand is one, I picked this up brand new off eBay for £34.00 delivered!

Just thought this would be a good thread for anyone that's looking to rebuild an engine.

I used a rod bolt stretch gauge but a torque wrench is OK.
Piston ring filer.
PLENTY of brake cleanee

Will you need this ?

We have brake cleaner by the bucket load! So that's sorted.
Piston ring filer, cool I'll look for one of those.

That's a cam degree kit.
Basically it's used to time new camshafts up perfectly.
Serious na beast territory really.

Going to be a interesting thread this . Love it .

Same engine stand as me Sam. Turn the back plate of the mount over so the flat slots are at the top and diagonal ones are at the bottom. Fits b series a bit better.

You will need Plasti gauge. I use acl stuff and it works well. I think the call it flexi gauge.

If your machine shop is friendly the night give you a strip.

Ah yes I think we've got an old ass one at work, good to know might need it, might not...

Cool cheers rob I'll do that, yes plasti gauge I've seen them before.
Do you use them to test the crankshaft bearing faces for distortion / wear?

Bearing clearances Sam.
Micrometer and a bore gauge if you don't trust anyone like me.

Ah that makes sense.
Yeh I've got a bore gauge on order with my local tool supplier.
I will want to double check everything myself, plus it's always good to have the tools.

If you have a bore gauge on order and have micrometers, then there is no need for plastigauge.
No other specialist tool are required really apart from the ones mentioned above. Oh 2x 5mm pins or drills to lock the cams out.
