i have been reading about trying to figure out if my car has a lsd it's a 97 ctr with the s4c gearbox. But when it's jacked up and I spin one axle the other one doesn't move at all and vise versa.

Any ideas would be great

Type Rs have Torsen/ Helical LSDs, Activated by torque. Ie grip+drive. loose spinning it will act like an open.

Best way to confirm is pop a shaft out but it being a ek9 I'd say it has LSD! :)

Ek9 box should have r4 lsd printed on the top of the casing close the clutch cylinder.

I think me might have one in our city it's a sad excuse for one tho.

Am i correct in saying lsd can be worn out and act like a open diff? I remember ages ago a honda tech mentioning it.

Interesting, it was actually Pez from racedna who mentioned it in passing that excessive use over time wears it out and the only way of retrieving it back is obviously fitting a new lsd.

Jesse888 hows yours holding out after all your track use does it still feel strong since first putting it in? My stock one feels aggresive compare to my mates dc5, i cant imagine how a plated one would feel.

Mine was a used diff when I got it but my buddy had it from very nearly new. Can't say it's lost any of its effectiveness. It's very sensitive to the oil you out in it so you can play about with them that way

I remember when i first got my car, i went to pull out of a quiet junction did a right turn and floored it at the same time, the steering felt locked and i ended up on the other side of the road! My mistake was trying to bring it back in with my foot still floored, scary as hell at the time but laugh about it now.

My ek9 was the first car i had driven with a diff, for me it was coming on boost whilst over taking and crossing over the centre white lines, it snatched and pulled in all directions.
When you aint expecting it, we end up fighting with it trying to get it back in control, boost and lsd lethal!

Mines like this in 4th in a straight line now. Lose grip on one wheel and it's tugging you all over the road.
All good fun though!
