ABS Delete Issue

Hi there,

Just removed ABS from my EK and now the pedal is very soft and travels far and stopping power is very very weak. I found no brake fluid leakages from prop valve or from the breaded lines near the caliper. The new pipes from the prop valve are not the metal type as OEM so to say but used Hel breaded lines. The ABS pump has also been removed. Mechanic said all the pipes are hooked up correctly. Brakes have been bleed twice and the second time just yesterday.

Anyone might have a hunch of what the issue might be?

Thanks

If you let the brake master cylinder run dry then it's likely air trapped inside that. It's quite difficult to remove it. You just have to keep trying to bleed it

Thanks for your input Jesse. Will have a word with the mechanic about this. Cheers

We had the same problem with my brothers clutch in his ep3. We where bleeding it for 3days until it finally spat the air out in a big chunk.

You can try to bench bleed the master cylinder, it sometimes helps when you can tilt it one way or another. Also, why did you use hel braided lines instead of hard pipe? I can't see any benefit and I have my doubts as to whether they are as stiff as proper hard brake line?

Spoke to the mechanic and said he will bleed the system with some sort of bleeding machine. No idea why he went for Hel braided lines to be honest but seems like race cars over here are built using them instead of hard pipes. Might not gain any benefit but should not affect the performance either. Fingers crossed bleeding the system properly should sort the issue.

As above bench bleeding is your friend here. Easy to do and once you've got the air out you know when it's back on the car it's one less issue

So problem seemed to be air in the rear left wheel. Mechanic bled the system with some sort of bleeding machine and now brakes have a much better feel to it. I couldn't test braking power properly since I have just installed front and rear camber arms so need to do alignment and camber settings. Car really feels unstable as it is and didnt want to risk it. I have Ferodo DS2500 pads and these need some heat to really get them working properly.

I haven't driven the car in more than 3 months and forgot how the brakes felt when i still had ABS but I can tell that now it does feel different. Hope it was worth the effort and money for this mod.

Thanks everyone for the input ;););)
