small annoyances on your ek9's

who got some

just small annoying things

i think the interior light in my ek9 is a joke

and that the handbrake is crap

any more?

Higher wattage bult and get your handbrake adjusted or replace rear pads if needed

window rubbers being complete shite as with all hondas
most of em i see the back splitter is never straight.

Use wet N black turtle-wax tyre-shine on the window seals!

i agree on both even tho i have a ej9
what problem u have with the handbrakes? mine has to be pulled up really hii when parking somewhere steep

Check your back pads/replace if needed and get your handbrake adjusted!

Yeah my handbrake is useless too!!

as previous reply!!!

handbrake too..nearly more light off my phone than the interior light.(thats with a new bulb)..Also things that can be fixed but I cant seem to see the problem is the back speaker rattles somtimes and drivers seat squeeks sometimes on rough roads

For light, higher wattage bulb is best or LED better. Jsut make sure the bulb diesnt give off too much heat.
Back speaker rattles is commonly found as being a screw that unscrewed itself!.... remove the top cover and replace! :nice:
drive seat skeaking is the seatbelt clip/socket. Use a rag and tyre shine to clean between the seat/ clip.

also the windows on my car are painfully slowwwwww
and my horn doesnt work

For horn start from the horn and apply voltage manually and test it back form there I put a big post up about htis a long time ago.! dont delay, just fix somthing eveyr day!

For the slow window, this is caused by one of three things..

1.dirt in the seal..... clean them out with a plastic ruler and a cloth and GPC. then number 2 below

2.Rubber seals perishing/drying out form the seasons of heating/cooling

Use wet N black turtle-wax tyre-shine on the window seals! all around and itll perform like new. be generout. then wipe off the excess!

3. knackered motor/worn

i know a few people who have the slow window sydrome...mine included...left more than the right one? my right one is pretty quick!

apart from that tho, no worries. not even had problems with my handbrake :S

as above!

I think its the seatbelt holder thingy near the handbrake that spueaks sometimes....definitely agree with the weak interior light (I usually leave mine set to the middle position so when I disarm the alarm I am able to see inside my vehicle from the outside, but with tint on my EK9 the light's useless)...

and the horns on the steerin wheel are too small and hard to press.....the red H in the center of the wheel should've been the horn......can't easily blow my horn for chicks anymore :)

As above, as for horn heh. no biggie.

I notice my EK9 is slightly tilted on the left side when it was still on its stock suspension. When i change to coilovers, there was a big difference on the coilover threads turns between the left & the right side..

I'd get the car chassis checked on jig/laser jig.! thats the only way you'll find out what needs doing.

My seatbelt puller back in thingys (lol) are lame! Didnt work in my last civic! I dont like the ariel. My handbrake is fine! In my ek3 I hated my electric windows and abs as there was always a problem! thats why I found an ek9 without electric windows and abs and its not a problem now! :)

as aboe for seat belt retractor.... they wear out on all cars with use. the spring could be changed but it'd be better to replace the assembly if it bothers you that much. eithe rthat or go to harnesses.

For aeriel... simply buy an inline booster on a fused 12v feed. then plug it inline by your feet behind the trim! :nice: or if its appearance is troubling you then change to a window strip ariel. as for abs, that sbecause things need to be fixed on your old car.

I have some sort of earthing problem, as my A/C controls most of the time dont light up and some times they do.

I hate how they don't have a rear wiper.

Turning circle isnt great.

I've raised the car, but the exhaust or CAT still scrape in multi storey car parks and speed bumps.

Car seems sluggish before 3,000rpm..not sure if it is a misfire or what.

remove th ecentre console trim and ac controls and test! identify the fault. for rear wiper, thats just design, to save weight.

for turning circle, you didnt buy a shopping car ;)

For exhaust check mountins bushings etc. or ride height.

as for car being slugginsh, you can pay companies like myself to identify the fault for you, if there is a fault.

Good to know some of the problems my DC2 has, are common "Honda" traits, but some are "DC2isms" i reckon!!

1. Creaking door cards where they meet the dash
2. Rattley windows when partially open
3. Windows a bit sluggish
3. Buzzing/resonance on dash/handbrake surround (since Spoon B-pipe:angry:)
4. Randomly squeaking/clicking clutch pedal when you first press it (Has a mind of its own & no amount of WD40 has helped!)

Im sure il think of more.....

hey where did you learn to count! :p
1. CLEAN AND SILICONE LUBE wetNblack
2. remove doorcard and ceck.tighten all fasteners. also inspect scissor mechanicsm
3. as above
3. (the second 3) heh, cant help you there sorry. just exhaust.... add a resonator to top that
4. dont use WD40 ! dman man, use lithium grease. on the pivot point and the master cylinder rod. Also check with honda for any recalls as alot of hondas of the eera has the master cylinder recall. FREE! ;)

I've had most of these annoying problems.
Window speed, defo Silicone Spray.
Noisy squeak from seat is the belt holder thing, like said before.
Squeaky clutch pedal just went away after time.
Back light's were leaking, sorted with some clear silicone.
Most annoying thing is having to keep cleaning red recaros!!!
Is there something i can coat the seats with after cleaning to keep them clean for longer???

for back lights you can just clean/dry the seals and this fixes it too! ;)
as for coating the seats.... lazy man, just buy capitol seat covers.

This is so true and so god damn annoying. how can i get rid of it.
I find that both of my seats are loose but the actual rails are fine.
my light is fine but the cover has broken off so that may be why that is fine.

WTF! tighten then fast.

THE RUST IS KILLER

regular cleaning and restoration if you have rust, dont just cover it up! and it wont stop it. you have to remove then seal it.

whatever little niggles you may find,,,,,,,,

all is forgiven once you mash the throttle into the carpet before that apex and unleash the vtec!!!

driving an EK9 is like riding the girl of your dreams,, nothing comes close!!
LUCKY FOR ME I HAVE BOTH!!

Amen to that!... i have both too! :D

All my hondas pull to the left hahaha

Shame man, get your suspension checked by a competant 4W alignment centre! just crazy accepting it as normal.

The clips that hold the bumpers on. The break into 5 pieces as soon as they see your hand getting close to it.

Thats just when you go near them :p lol jk

my glove box squeeks:angry2: so anoying you just touch it and it stops but you try and make the lock tighter it doesnt do anything!!! oh and i cant use the handbrake i put it in reverse lol

but we all love our honda's:D

slacken the two mounting 6mm bolts/scews and mae sure its in the middle, then clean the sides with silicone tyre shine where it was rubbing. If it was in the catch thats squeaking then this is form wear,, replace the catch £££ or put heavy duty tape like a strip of HD duct tape black around it a few times.

Ill rpely to some more tomorrow maybe.

You guys are crazy accepting this kind of problem as normal. Hope you all get them sorted! It'll be rewarding and beneficial for yourselfs.

i hate the fact that the back end of my car rattles loads,
my sunroof switch is dodgy, u have to press it at an angle to make it open(only when opening fully, not just tiliting it up)
passenger seat squeaks regardless of whether ive got someone sitting in it or not
theres no cupholders. anywhere
the fact that from some angles, i see my car and think, its designed a bit wierd with a funny shape, and i dont actually like it that much, but then i see it from other angles, think it looks amazing, and that the shape and styling is spot on !

i would like cupholders on my ej9 also its a bit sucky
plus i agree with you on the angles of the car lol
ive realised how much i prefer the facelift now. lol but yet again. 1.4 civic against another 1.4 it just cains them all. lol

im not alone  i always thought it was just me with the angles lol!

as for 14.civic against another 1.4 they kane em, ive beaten a 1.6vtr before now aswell!

as for 14.civic against another 1.4 they kane em, ive beaten a 1.6vtr before now aswell!

as for this that isnt true.. unless that VTR was fooked or the driver cant drive. ive been beaten by 2 of them... and they do have quite a bit more than us

oh and the fact that the drivers window can be put up or down with one flick of the button but the passenger one cant. That annoys me the most.

Will installing a drivers side button and motor to the passenger side work? If it does you could then go to the local scrapyard or breakers to get one?

 dunno then, maybe he was jus a **** driver tbh!

and that electric window thing, mine really ****s me off, i tap it down to open it a bit wen im drivin, to let my fag smoke out, and it goes all the way down :nono:

SQUEAKS Everywhere...but as said above...once your driving properly all is forgiven

prefacelift comes with the threaded ones, the facelift somes with the newer style of clips that were an 'improvement.

The bottom bit of my Right rear light has a little damp, water :( , any ideas? or should i buy a new one, also i have broke a plastic little weld on my Right rear light BULB socket so it doesnt fit back in properly and is loose, i think it is the rear fog light :(

any advice guys, im sure you can be of help WILL :p???

the bulb holders have seals on them, thatll be the reason for your condensation! see if you can replace the broken part with parts from a dealer or breakers!

I get the same problem with my rear lights filling with water...the water then goes inside the car and gets whats left of the carpet wet.

ive been told to get a 2mm drill bit and Drill a hole in the underside of the Light to let the water drain out...but i think id rather try and fix the seal on the inside of the light.

Would i have to buy a new rear light regarding the condensation? :(

Depends which bit is broken, but you could even just buy or get a light FREE maybe from a smashed car in a breakers if the outer casings broke they wont be able to get full value. Id expxt it to be 70-100 new for one side at a guess.

Is it definitely the seal? first part of fixing a problem is identifying it!... if it is then you can put it in the ove at 100*C abouts and then you'll be able to pull the lense off, clean the old seal off (extremely time consuming) and the re-seal and press it firmly back together.

I just came from upgarage in Japan, I bought a momo steering wheel and a quick disconnect that goes with it, my question is, what else do I need to get to install it completely to my stock HUGE STEERING wheel? My car is a modified US spec 99 civic hb.
