Official EK4 - EK9 Comparison

Hey can anyone tell me why my 9 and four of my mates ek9's when ticking over and when reving is much "noiser", if thats the correct term, than my other mates ek4 which by comparison is much more on the quiet side. just out of a matter of interest

They have a larger exhaust piping diameter which probably accounts for a slightly louder exhuast sound. That is providing the ek9s you are talking about have stock exhaust system?!

EK9 like all jdm cars has 2.5" piping, where are UK EK4 has 2.25" :nice:

Yea they all have stock exhausts where i live all sport back box's are banned, Thanks for that mate!!

one thing i have to say is the ek4 can do well more than 129mph. experienced this myslef. had a mates off the clock :nice:

So did I, then I looked at the GPS and saw I was doing 132mph.

The clocks are not accurate. I'd say 129mph is correct for a standard car.

EK9 0-60 is around 6.7/6.8 - It is definately slower than a 96'spec JDM DC2 which is nearer to 6.5

just look on the type-r legend BMI videos which compares all of their performance

The EK9 is right in the middle between the 1.8 Sir Integra and the ITR in terms of speed. This means its clearly much faster than the 7.7 to 60 of the EK4. The EK9 handles just like a DC2, which is a great compliment

bout time sum1 did a decent write up on dis subject as 4 da 0-60 for ek9 its 6.2s and for dc2 its 5.9s , 1/4 mile for ek9 is 15.3s and 4 dc2 is 15s

yeah.. def a massive diference.. i drive an ek4 at the moment. Fitted with a tanabe system, itg closed filter and 4-1 manfold. Its not a slow car.. but its not an ek9!

isnt the ek9 5.7 to 60?

yes i have seen this figure on may site 5.7 however i still cant find the official honda times :(

i have a ek4 and had a lil race with a type r i think it was 98 spec not to sure i manage to keep up with him neck and neck this was only possible because a had a remap ecu and few parts installed. im thinking of getting an k9 but my girlfriend would not allow me to sell the EK4 any one know if a k9 in black for sale i could probaly full her if i did a body kit swap then again the interior is much different please help :(

Sounds like you need to hoist up those trousers & take control.

LOL i love to but she the one that gets me all these extra tuning goodies.:naughty:

Handling

This for me is the crytical point of the EK9 visually they look the same untill you look further into the chassis you notice much more R and D.

The EK9 boasts

Seam welded chassis
Stiffening brace under the chassis near the rear ARB
Stiffening bars behind the bumpers
A 22mm Rear ARB vs a 13mm on EK4
Better Shocks and springs
Limited Slip Differential
Lighter windscreen

I'm sure there is more but these are just my observations.

Good write up, on the above points - we need a thread with pictures of the EK4 compared to EK9, a how to on how to differentiate, when I first got into civics, I didnt have a clue, so maybe something like that would be beneficial?

I dunno i could be wrong but how does the b18 inside the civic way the same as the b16b? Isn't the b18c a heavier block?
