Hi all!

Been on here for a short while now, mainly nabbing parts from the for sale sections but wanted to show where its all going ;)

So last summer I picked up this little EG6 to build into a lightweight track muncher after selling my 400hp supercharged 350Z drift car. Ill miss that car alot but it cost far too much money to run and drift, so thats enough about that!

So here it is from when I bought it!

Was a bit too chavtastic for me in this trim (bar the colour!) but had some nice parts and got it for a decent price so went for it.

Nice bits that will be staying;

BC Racing coilovers
Tegiwa carbon intake
Rebuilt B16A2 although its smoking on VTEC
Half decent manifold
Whiteline rear antirollbar, not sure whats on the front?
Also has a good solid straight shell but has had the arches repaired at some point.
Few other goodies

Bits that will be lost!

Subaru Imprezza seats, sit you way too high
Skirts
Exhaust
Steering wheel
WEIGHT!!!

Bits to buy;

Perspex windows
Fiberglass boot and bonnet
Full set of bushes
LCA's
Decent brake set up
Light bucket seats
Set of R888's
4-1 Manifold

So the first part for me was replacing the exhaust. Always loved the spoon systems but heard they were too loud for trackdays. Luckily a guy on here was/is selling EK replica spoon rear sections which are trackday legal. So I went for one although it needed a bit of cutting and re-welding to get a nice fit on the EG shell. Unfortunatly I didnt get any pics of me doing this but it sits nice and will get some pics next weekend.

Then went onto removing the rear and side skirts. I decided to keep the front, I like the aggressive look it gives although doubt it has much function!

I was happily suprised when I pulled off the skirts to find the originals still intact underneath, just needed a few points re-securing.

Then went onto start stripping weight from the car.

My plans are;

Strip interior, sound deadening
Perspex windows
Fiberglass boot/bonnet
Strip ABS, Wiring loom

On with it then! Anyone who has stripped a car knows that its all fun until you have to get all that sound deadening out right down to clean smooth metal. Took me a complete weekend of solid graft, ugh!

All cleaned up now!

Forgot to add I spent alot of time stripping two alarms from this car, along with tidying up the hacked up original wiring, stripped the loom going to the rear of the car including ABS ECU - saved 10Kgs!

So next weekend it will be getting a couple of licks of white topcoat and hopefully be able to pick up a brake pipe kit to delete the ABS fully.

Also need to sort this smokey VTEC issue - valve stem seals I guess?
Along with a leaky VTEC solenoid and dead water temp sensor, parts collected for these and should be a quick easy fix.

Should have more updates next weekend - Thanks! :)

Seen this on piston heads a while ago! Looks tidy and your plans sound good :)
Yeah have a look at steam seals for the smoke,
Keep it up

Looks amazin, the shell looks like a great base esp in that colour! Few nice mods already on the car for the track aswell!

If its still smoking on vtec then its a possibility that the rings havent seated properly after the rebuild causing oil to pass. I wouldnt worry about it unless you are producing loads of smoke! Usually vtecs that smoke a bit tend to clear when driven hard on the track anyway, just make sure to keep topping it up between sessions

Great wee car you have found and ace work already. looks very clean too!

Looks great and nearly too clean to turn into a track car from the pictures! Love this color in the eg's!! Are you planning in sticking with the 1600 lump? Spray job looks the party in the interior!!

Thanks lads :)

I have been having dirty thoughts of a K20a conversion maybe after another tour of Afghan and im minted ;)

Ill stick with the B16 for now though, if I can get the car down to around 900kg should have enough poke to scare some faster cars out on track :D

tbh i loved the way it was when you first got it :) plans sound good aswell, been concidering perspex windows myself also ;)

Plans sound good mate, always liked the eg6's. Get it down to that sort of weight and your onto a winner on the track, just dont forget about distributing the weight though.

Nice build mate. Always good to see.

Let me know when you find a source to get a fibergals bonnet. I have been looking fo ages now, can never seem to get one.

just dont forget about distributing the weight though.

Yeh man, whats the crack with distributing weight? Any idea whats an ideal ratio?

What sort of weight can be shifted? Obviously will move the battery to behind the passenger seat or maybe the boot area. Also try to pull some weight off the front end, maybe loose the PS a long with the ABS...

Thought about having an alloy fuel tank setup in the spare wheel well, but I like the location of the standard unit, its nice and low and central.

Managed to get the first coat of white on this evening, will hopefully get a second coat on tomorrow eve but will need more paint!

Got sat waiting to go;

New Valve stem seals - gonna be a fun job! :D
Gates Racing cam belt kit, and new water pump
New steering wheel
Rota slipstreams 15x8 et.20's
Cobra Monaco bucket seat

When I work on the bushes Ill be cleaning up all the footwork and repainting, also giving the coilovers an overhaul.

Gonna be fun! Hope to be hitting a track day come the end of August!

Nice update cant wait for the picture's.

P.s Would look into suspenssion geo setups and principle's before saving up for those 8j ET 20 wheels seeing as this is going to be a track toy. Will give you killer bump steer and mega bad scrub angle's. Would say 7J ET40 or 35 would be much better still look prity fat and handle miles better. Unless your really just after the image factor :nice:
