Literally just copy and pasted this off ITR-DC2 so sorry if some of it doesn't make sense, new updates coming soon! :D

Hello all,

This is my third ITR, some of you may remember my last one:

DSC_0410copy.jpg

I loved it to bits, it was a really nice clean example, but unfortunately circumstances at the time meant I could not keep it, so I sold it with the intention of buying a sensible car. After seeing a few BMW and VW's I just couldn't do it, for me the ITR was so much car, for not alot of money. Luckily my circumstances changed so I began the hunt for another one

After seeing a few dogs, I found a well looked after clean 96 spec with UK 2 owners, both of which are on this forum (fonzoo and Benskett). Only problem was, it was 250 miles away in Cornwall!

Here's some pics from the for sale advert:

The car was advertised as burning NO oil, NO gearbox crunches and NO rust. There was a fair few mods on the car also, aswell as meticulous service history, a full rebush and undersealed twice since import in 2007.

So, me and a friend set off at 6am in the trusty A3 to go take a look.

DSC_0311.jpg

Ouch! That's one way, this car better be good!

DSC_0313.jpg

Met up with Chris (fonzoo), took a good look around the car, took the car for a test drive, did a compression test and made a deal :D

Here we are 5 mins after buying the car, we couldn't resist having a look around the car :p

So here she is after I got her home with no issues, done over 300 miles so far and not a drop of oil burnt!

This is the current spec:

Engine/Gearbox:
- Tegiwa Mugen Replica Intake With Silicone Intake Pipe
- Exedy Lightened Flywheel/Clutch
- Mugen 4-1 Exhaust Manifold
- Spoon Street Backbox
- Magnecor HT Leads
- Skunk2 Short Shifter
- Skunk2 VTEC Solenoid Cover
- Yonaka Aluminium Race Radiator
- Tegiwa Shift Extender

Suspension:
- Meister R Zeta S Coilovers
- Function 7 Rear LCAs
- Spoon Front Strut Brace
- ITR Rear Strut Brace
- Poly'd ARBs

Wheels/Tyres:
- Rota Spec R 98 Replica Wheels
- Hankook RS2 Tyres
- Dixcel N1 discs & Z pads

Exterior:
- 6K HIDs
- LED Bulbs All Round

Well straight away I got to work :p There was a weird clunking noise from the front end, the previous owner put it down to the CV joints on the driveshaft, however I found it to be loose droplink bolts on the ARB, I also checked every single bolt which would have been removed for the rebush, to my surprise, some of them were loose! So I torqued them all up to spec.

Oh and I slammed it 8)

Still a few small issues to sort out, there is still a slight clunking when on full lock so I will rebuild the shafts and refresh the gearbox oil in the process, but its a million times better than before. Overall, I'm very happy, its getting harder to come by a good example these days and I'm lucky it only took me a few months to come across this one.

Thanks for reading, I'll try and keep the updates shorter!

DSC_0369-1.jpg

Had this custom 2.5" exhaust system lying around from my old DC2

DSC_0320-4.jpg

DSC_0331-2.jpg

DSC_0336.jpg

Had it up for sale, but didn't really have much interest so I decided to fit it :D And my god, the combination of this exhaust with the Mugen intake is insane! 8)

DSC_0379.jpg

Didn't like the number plates it came with, looked too big to me

DSC_0387.jpg

So I ordered a new 12x6 set, just need some sticky tabs now!

DSC_0394.jpg

Also finally fixed my horn, the button was very loose but managed to fab a bracket behind to make it fit snug

DSC_0380.jpg

Brakes are absolute ****, no idea why tegs were every fitted with 262s! So I bought some Legend twinpots 8)

DSC_0360-1.jpg

Also the headlights were very yellow and hazzy so I gave them a wet sand

DSC_0436.jpg

Anyway, haven't washed the car since I'd bought it so thought I'd man up in the cold and go for it.

Updates!

Time to finally sort out the dodgy driveshafts! I started rebuilding the OEM shafts I was given with the car, 2 of the boots were split so I decided to change all 4 for good measure and give everything a lick of paint to freshen them up and prevent rust.

Everything laid out ready to go

DSC_0434.jpg

Picked up a load of supplies earlier

DSC_0436-1.jpg

Split the outter joints and stuck them in a vice to remove all the innards!

DSC_0438.jpg

DSC_0440.jpg

Then onto the inners

DSC_0441.jpg

All the bearing cleaned up!

DSC_0447.jpg

Then I de-rusted and wire brushed the shafts and cups ready for paint

DSC_0443.jpg

DSC_0444.jpg

After some etch primer and regular primer

DSC_0450.jpg

And finished in gloss black :D

DSC_0453.jpg

DSC_0455.jpg

Sadly I was given the wrong inner CV boots so I will have to pick up the right ones tomo and put it all back together!

Also just made a shinny purchase, more updates soon :)

Fantastic car, and Fabulous Updates!

What about the Legend Calipers? Are they refurbed yet??

Keep up the good work, and congrat´s for the dedication!
Thanks mate, no I haven't touched the Legend calipers yet, been too busy working on other people's cars! Need to decide on some discs and pads first then I'll get going on them :)

Thanks my friend :D I may do it once my teg is nearly done haha

Good update, I don't mind if you can get mine done hahaha
Thanks man, I would but the fun is in doing it yourself!! haha

Few Updatingz

First of all I finally picked up a manifold I've wanted for ages, the Tegiwa Toda Replica. I'm not Tegiwa's beggest fan but I've got to say this thing is a work of art! Looks to be an exact replica for half the price!

DSC_0429.jpg

DSC_0432-2.jpg

Sexy welds 8)

DSC_0437-1.jpg

DSC_0439-1.jpg

I installed a genuine FLP shifter along with some Hardrace bushes

DSC_0451.jpg

DSC_0464.jpg

Also stuck my seat cover in the washing machine, came out like new :D

DSC_0458.jpg

Seen as the weather has been nice I finally got round to fixing my car! As some of you may know I've had knocking on turns and wobble on acceleration since I bought the car which I diagnosed to be the steering rack and driveshafts.

Spent about 8 hours dropping out the subframe, swapping the steering rack and driveshafts and fitting my new manifold :D

Some pics during the process:

DSC_0430.jpg

DSC_0435-1.jpg

Garage looking a mess :p

DSC_0432-3.jpg

Many many driveshafts :p

DSC_0431.jpg

Also fitted a new O2 sensor while I was at it, the old one looked, well, old lol

DSC_04302.jpg

Tegiwa manifold on 8) Took about an hour of filing to get the bolt holes to line up!

DSC_04312.jpg

DSC_0439-3.jpg

The OEM fan wouldn't quite fit as I have such a fat radiator there isn't enough clearance so I've ordered a slim push fan, still waiting for it to arrive!

DSC_0437-4.jpg

After all this work, I was STILL getting a knock on turns, but thankfully the wobble is gone. After some more investigation I found that the upper control arm bolts were VERY loose! Tightened them up and now all is well, also the Tegiwa manifold feels much better through the lower revs. The car feels so nice to drive now, I'm very pleased! :D

Some updatingz!

My slim fan finally arrived, also changed my thermostat because it was faulty and did a complete coolant flush while I was at it!

DSC_0429-3.jpg

Wired up the fan and used some left of sleeving for the wire tuck look :p

DSC_0432-4.jpg

All fitted up and working

DSC_0431-1.jpg

I also removed A/C because I never use it, so now my bay looks a bit tidier and I shed a few kg :)

DSC_0435-2.jpg

Postman delivered this yesterday

Some great work put into that car, looks spot on.
Keep up the good work.

Nice dc2 mate, your garage is pretty sorted too. I need to pull my finger out and sort mine out.

also got to love the nardi deep corn, ive fitted one to my dc5. There so Awesome and sexy

Lovely dc2 mate! Looks like it gets everything it needs! Is it just me or does the back bumper seem a little off white tho?

Cheers guys, yeah I've put some work into it although I feel like I've done nothing because the exterior looks pretty much the same! Lots of changes to come soon tho :)

mikeW - Cheers fella, having a garage really helps some times! I spent alot of time building shelves and what not to make my life easier when working on cars, and my friends take full advantage! lol

Karleg6 - Yes unfortunately the rear bumper is a little whiter than the car, I'm going to machine polish everything soon :)
