I've always been into civics but have only ever had the ek's from vti's to coupes and ek9s, so when I was going to do a project I got an ek9 to do it on as there the best finished of the ek's but now I'm thinking on a new project on the older gen civics, but what's the best base to buy in the ef and eg models? Or in other words what's the ek9 of the older gens? There a few cars I've looked at but hav ee9 with ef9 parts etc but to me that's like a ek4 with ek9 parts. So can someone explain the best models of each t buy as I can't get my ans from google. Thanks

The DX EG is the lightest EG model available, with no power steering or electric windows.

Not sure if there's any difference in the chassis bracing over the range.

If im not mistaken CX is the lightest model of all the eg's...
EG's to me are by far way better platform than EF and even EK ( of course not stock vs stock )

Better than EK9???

I found the EF9 SIR a better car than the EG6 SIR. Handled much better IMO

I prefer the ef9 an ef8 crx sir all over the newer Hondas

Talking about handling ave not driven a better handling car then my Ef, it's just awesome around corners, owned dc2, ek's ,eg's and driven loads of vtec's but the Ef's are in there own league, like I said before its light extremely nimble and a complete powerhouse

EK9 of the older generation? The EE8/EF8 CRX.
When looking for a base, just make sure its not a complete rust bucket.

Having EF9 parts on an EE9 means nothing. They are the same car, apart one was sold in Europe and the other in Japan.

Am I right in saying both the ef9 sir and eg6 sir have sunroofs? Any pics or details to tell which spec has what bumpers, interior etc for both gens and what one to look for?

no i had two eg6 sir,s with no sunroofs
so it must be an optional extra,
there is also an eg6 sir2

theres loads of extras and differences on a ef9
ef9 has plastic headlights ee9 has glass
ef9 has bronze tinted windows
my old ef9 had every extra even abs
theres loads more we things like spoiler light on ef9 is longer

Does both ee9 and ef9 have the same interior and exterior? Or is the sir different again

The dx eg isnt a great base. Hardly any have no power steering and if you want to put a vtec engine in you need a new fuel tank, lines and a tonne of wiring. Ive had just about every model if eg abd love them, currently have an sir which im hoping to get on the road again for March, April

It seems an sir ef or eg is hard to come across :((

I don't consider the EG6 SiR an old rare model quite yet. Maybe as I have 2 :p. But considering the ease of sourcing parts with the EG6 sharing majority of mechanical with the DC2 its much easier to tune and maintain.

Saying that I would love an EF9 just something about the nimmbleness of them. The EG6 seems too close to the EK age to be classed as an old feather weight. Massively regret selling my EE8 Vt and ED9 16v CRX's
