NEW CIVIC TYPE R

Very true man, just the way cars are going these days.... to risky and potentially costly trying something different

I like it. I think it's good that they brought out a new one. It'll be good to see some track ones in the future. When the likes off spoon etc get there hands on one. There should be a 3 door though

Not sure what spoon are going to make of it tbh, they ever done anything forced induction?
Be good to see what they come up with.

Yep they did a nsx turbo for the US market. Left hand drive. 300/350bhp NA and a 450bhp turbo spec. Check it out on YouTube on the gt channel. They basically replicated the Nsx R gt and made it even lighter and faster. Work off art.

Really like the styling and looks like they have got the handling spot on. I'd definitely pick this over a Golf R or Astra OPC

:fapfap:

Looks good enough in my opinion. Shame there isn't a 3-door option. The "R" mode adds weight to the steering, sharpens the throttle and firms up the suspension via the adaptive dampers. At first I thought it was a bit pointless, but come to think about, having a choice between a comfortable setting and a firmer "sport" mode should be handy, especially on UK roads.

Does the rear torsion beam let this car down? I'm not a suspension expert so I'll let someone else answer this question. At least it comes with a proper mechanical diff and Brembo brakes. Dual Axis front suspension is another interesting feature. Interior is decent:

Any weight figures for this?

Personally think it's a beauty of a car.

People think it's expensive, but if you look at its competitors in the market it's fairly priced in my opinion, considering what you are getting. Not many +300hp cars out the factory with those looks and interior build (although BMW's M135 and M235 are a couple of cars I'd maybe consider before the new Type R although don't have he same aggressive exterior)

I'm also very bored of reading how it's 'nothing like the concept' - it's a damn sight closer to the concept that 99% of other concept v reality cars. Only thing I can remember being closer was the Mk1 Audi TT 16 years ago.

Need to get a test drive sorted for one. Majorly tempted to go for one once released. See what the car situation is like at the time

As already mentioned has anyone seen how much it weighs? I cant find any info on the net... going by its claimed 0-60 its looking like 1400kg!! :(

Not like I can afford one but its not my cuppa tea... but I'm pleased with Honda for building it... this and the new NSX plus being back in F1 push the company in a better direction I feel.

Fast car. But I'm concerned it's going become another vxr,Cupra,Golf insert generic turbo hot hatch here......
Only recent hot hatch I think is remotely special is the megane trophy 275.
Watch the video at the ring, you wouldnt know it was a honda. 7k redline is disappointing and not sure what happened to vtec? Obviously suited more to midrange grunt than top end power. Unfortunately.
Don't like the noise on the video, hard to make it sound any different from the rest with it being so similar an engine.
Do beleive the cars got a faster lap in it though so come closer to release date expect a full production car run to be released with it going under 7:45....

Turbo engine sound that is problem also turbo cars do not need high rpm to go fast
**** turbo / N/A rules
No more high revving screaming engines for us :( Honda fully going on low revving engines with awful turbo sound :angry2:
At least we have old Hondas :meet:
Honda was swearing in N/A engines and what now i guess from now on will be all turbo in pursuit for low co2 emissions
In my opinion 2001 was beginning of the end for Honda and now 2015 TURBO Honda and i hate turbo engines
I will stick with older models below 2001
K20A last real Honda N/A engine used from 2001/2015 and now rip n/a

This is what is Honda(b16a,b16b,b18c,f20c,k20a,h22a & c32a) i do not care new turbo Hondas are faster that is simply not Honda

Weight is no problem for turbo cars

Don't understand the turbo hate... More efficient, more powerful, better to drive.

With all the reg's that new car's have to meet, there's no way in hell a small hatch can not have a turbo and be competitive...

It certainly is more powerful and efficient, and I have a feeling it will also be involving to drive. Could well be a decent driver's car.

Agree with you on two counts, not sure they are better to drive though.
Maybe if your just on the road and want abit of quick speed out of a corner or something, but N/A is usually a much more involved drive IMO.
Like you say, can't be a hot hatch without forced induction.
Even the super/hyper cara are on the forced induction to remain competitive.
Power crazy world we live in!

That was the advantage of honda cars
Power to Weight ratio

Assuming a weight of 1400kg the new R is 218.5hp per ton.
That's not bad but a lot of N/A b18s on this forum have that beat because of a lighter chassis.
Actually makes the laptime even more impressive.

Done a calculation for weight at 1300kg, I think it's likely to be between 1300kg and 1400kg, brings it up to 230.38hp per ton.
That's abit better imo, still beat by afew N/A guys on here though with high-comp builds and lightened cars.

More efficient yea if your turbo is always off but also honda without VTEC turned on is efficient
More powerful that one you got right
Better to drive you got a be kidding, no way

Why i hate it its because with N/A i can pedal to the medal in corner and in turbo i just brake before corner than blast off on exit
who care for power "What is a car without handling"
Garage works EG6 run Tsukuba last year in 57 sec range with 230/240hp N/A engine
