StevieG's K20 Integra DC2

I started all this knowing I had a month to get it stripped, all the work done and build it back together ready for a track day at castle combe on Feb the 7th with the vtec challenge lot. It was going to cut it fine but knew if the cage and paint work was done on time it was easily doable. So the car was taken too a local guy who builds rally cars and he cracked on with the cage for me.

Single door bars changed to X's with a bar from the top of the A pillar too the main join at the front.

Seat rails with harness eyebolts attached and the lower rear X.

A pillar gussets, dash bar that gets rid of the oem steering column bar, and also cut the rear inner skins away and the rear seat brackets.

The extension too the front shock towers, also guessted for some extra strength. The engine bay is also stitched welded.

While the Shell was having work done I got on with the other bits that needed doing.
Changed the timing chain, tensioner and the bottom pulley on the engine because mine was separating. I changed the ring behind the bottom pulley because there was so much play in it, it had worn the sensor ring and the bolt.

Got some new Hasport 92a engine mount bushes and fitted them to the kswap mounts.

Got a set of meister R zeta R coilovers, hardrace adjustable toe arms and some oem rear trailing arm bushes ready.

I also split one of my headlights open because it was leaking quite badly and was always full of condensation.

The roll cage work took a bit longer than expected so was left with not a lot of time too get the car back together by my track day at Castle combe which was Saturday Feb 7th. The car got painted on Tuesday, put in the oven to bake and I picked it up that night around 10pm. Got it back too my unit and started to build it back up straight away, still warm from the oven.

Got the rear lights sealed back in, boot hatch back on, rear lights/fuel pump loom back in,boot and petrol cap pull cables and the battery and cage bolted back through the floor.

So the next day I was booked in with autoglass for a new windscreen too be fitted. Once that was in, I got the engine and box back in the car, the Interior, headlights and engine wiring looms, shifter box, cables, handbrake and other bits for the inside done. Wednesday night it looked like this..

I had two days to get it running, get the seats in, get all the bodypanels back on and do a fair few other bits to make it ready for Castle Combe on the Saturday. There was no chance I would have time to get all the suspension bits on the car and have it aligned so I left it as it was for the track day, which wasn't the best set up. I got the car running and back together as much as possible and onto the trailer at 11pm Friday night ready too leave for Combe at 5am Saturday. I didn't quite finish it, but it would do for the day. I didn't have time too make the dash board fit around the new roll cage bars so the interior had to stay like this for the day.

Pretty messy, but who cares, it's a track day haha

The car didn't do too great at the track day. After the 3 very long days getting the car built back from a rolling shell got out onto the circuit, it didn't feel very planted because of the set up not being great and the tired bushes that I had to change but just didn't have time.

Unfortunately after a couple of sessions the car started to get worse, getting very bad shaking through the steering rack. Couldn't find the problem throughout the day, keep happening after a few laps into a session so packed the car up early and went home half day. First track day I have ever trailered the car too, and lucky I did really.

Ended up being a knackered drive shaft joint, all the grease was gone from the CV boot and the inside of the cup had got so warm is was blue in colour and all scored from where the shaft had been locking up causing my steering shake.

There is loads more to catch up on, just haven't had time to get the pictures loaded up here yet.

Cage looks good with the extra bits added and a fresh paint.
Good dedication to get all that work done in such a short period of time,
Look forward to reading more updates

After castle combe took the car back into the unit to finish it off properly, and fix the damaged shaft. I cut my dashboard down to suit the new roll cage bars, ended up with this which weighs next too nothing compared to what it was!

And it fitted a treat

I sent the dash to be flocked, so while that was being done I fitted the new coilovers, bushes and adjustable arms. Also sorted out something to demist the windscreen since I had taken all the oem heaters out. I got 4' ducting and an inline blower fan and made this.

This draws air from where the oem heaters do, passes through the fan and blows the air out the oem ducting in the middle of the dash board and works pretty well!

Once I got my dashboard back I set about fitting it straight away so I could get this car finished. I also got hold of a quadpod dc2 gauge holder that replaces the clock in the dash board, I had that flocked too.

Gauge holder fitted with the SPA design oil pressure/temp and water temp gauges.

Then had to make a swith panel for the dash. At the moment this has switches for the demister and rad fans on it, with the cigarette lighter for charging on long distance journeys. I also put the battery kill switch and inside fire extinguisher pull here too.

I put the external pull cables here on the scuttle panel.

That was the car finished pretty much, bled the brakes again and then took the car up too Performance autoworks to have the new coilovers set up properly and have a new alignment more biased towards track and how I wanted it too drive.

Carrying on again..
In April I went too a track day at Spa francorchamps and went too the Nurburgring again. It snowed on the Spa track day which was interesting. Did get around 2 hours of dry laps towards the end of the day.

Driving through Belgium heading for Spa.

Spa was an incredible circuit, the climb up eau rouge was something else at speed. In the wet/snowy conditions on the new set up I had on the car at performance autoworks it turned out the car was abit of a handful..

No problems through out the day, thought I would have a nightmare with the windscreen misting up now having no heaters and the weather conditions not being great but all was good and we set off for the nurburgring!

It was Easter weekend and was really busy so loads of cool cars around! The Grand Prix track was open which has never been open when I have been there so decided to do pretty much a full day on that track.

On my last session of the day my exhaust decided too call it quits, come off the hangers and loose a bolt from the manifold which was great. Iv had endless problems with this **** 'custom' exhaust I had made for it. So the next day I went too a local garage in Adenau to see if they could sort me out a bolt, such nice people run the garage and had met them the previous year buying oil they let me put it up on a ramp too quickly put it right.

over the 5 days I covered around 1600miles, the car done really well again so happy with how it was going. I got home and booked a track day at Pembrey for two weeks after i got home. Quick service and change the front discs and the car was ready. Didn't take any pictures of the day but have a video up on youtube of a session.

Again car went great only needing a set of fresh tyres.

I picked up some Advan RG wheels for the dc2 so I could take spares too track days with me after driving home on pretty much slick federals after pembrey, luckily I only live 15mins from the circuit but couldn't be doing that from any other track.

Freshly painted white, intentions was too use these as track wheels but they where so mint I decided the rpf1's are now track wheels and the RG are everyday wheels.

I decided too paint the rocker cover black after the mishap with the dipstick at nurburgring and having too take the cover off quickly and mess about getting the dipstick out the paint got real grubby so thought black would he easier to maintain.

Also got my new Luke 5 point in date harnesses fitted.

And a quick pic of how the interior is looking

Next up was a local South Wales Honda meet which usually brings a good turnout so cleaned up the teg abit and went along too that.

I booked a track day at Cadwell Park for July the 2nd with loads of other Hondas so prepped the car abit for that along with swapping gearboxes with a friend for one with a Mugen plated LSD and we think 5.1 final drive.

Some fresh gearbox oil when doing this and some engine oil and filter and was ready for Cadwell Park.

So on 2nd of July I went up too Cadwell Park for a track day with loads of hondas, few kswapped, boosted, supercharged the lot and was an awesome day with some really cool cars there. So I got a set of federals fitted onto the advan's ready since the tyres on the enkei where abit low from daily driving.

Decided too trailer the integra up too Cadwell as its a 5 hour drive one way for me :(. Got too the hotel about 11 the night before and just chilled out.

didnt get any videos from this cadwell day unfortunately :( but did get some pictures!

Aaannndd back on the trailer, not broken after a successful day :D

got home and booked another track day at Cadwell two weeks after this one so not much really changed inbetween these track days. I got a NRG snap off and a smaller oem suede steering wheel and fitted them but apart from that nothing changed.

I went back too Cadwell two weeks later but this time drove the integra there and back.

280 miles each way with the boot loaded up with tools, wheels, Jack and petrol. Headphones in and made the trip up perfectly :)
Weather was perfect again and had another really good day there. Chuffed with how the car goes now!

Again the car done really well, got me the 5 hour trip hom with no faults so another good day :D

wow nice long build! nice swap! and that rollcage incredible! nice car overall! keep up the good work :)
