Wow! Feels like it's been ages since the last update,
But a lot of work has been done!
So! Firstly the car came back into the unit so I could finish off a lot of little touches that I had to rush and skip.
Here we go, I have some pictures of things and unfortunately I don't on others.
- My throttle cable felt really slack, so I redesigned it and it feel really good now!
- The whole exhaust came off as it started blowing really bad on every joint, had new gaskets everywhere, raised the exhaust a lot more and it now tucks up perfect.
- Fitted new manifold studs and spike supplied by Mjc automotive
- when the manifold was I gave it a good polish up to best I could by hand
- replaced both lambda sensors
- fixed the rattle in the back box and replaced the tip to a 3'1/2 one as it 4 inch started to burn the rear lip and it didn't poke out enough for my liking
- replaced all the exhaust hangers to some much stronger and stiffer ones
- added an adjustable slider rail to the drivers seat (was much needed)
- won a cheap flocked interior piece off eBay so fitted that along with some footwell lights,
- fitted a 5 panel wink mirror supplied by Mjc with some Mjc automotive washers
- picked up some
16" Schumacher edition BBS with a fair bit of curbing so gave them. Refurb with new gold writing centre caps,
painted in Mercedes iridium silver
- Swapped out the front springs on the coilovers for some shorter and much stiffer ones bringing the car much lower
Please excuse the dusty car!
SO! This is the good bit!
Started with the boot build,
With the boot I wanted access to my spare wheel, a much more secure location for my battery and a sub. Over all I wanted a nice simple floor.
Started off with making some templates to get the shape of the plastic, made them with bits of cardboard.
Then cut that template out in some wood, as I wanted the access to the wheel I cut the wood in half so it just lifts out with out any struggling
Also made the template for rear section, this bit was much harder as I needed to work out where the supports for the floor go after that I then cut it out in the wood again.
I then needed to work out where my batter was going to go! I didn't want it just bolted down anywhere, I wanted it to look like it has a place, so got hold of a motamec battery tie down, really good quality and very strong.
So with locating it I put it behind the Passanger seat, but I cut the floor to sink it down a little bit adding more strength to the floor with this.
(Wood was roughly in place)
Next was to drill some holes for the harness to go through and clip in
Then next was to work out where I wanted my sub!
Decided on having it inbetween my harnesses.
But then I didn't want it too simple
So I cut the wood and made it sit on an angle, giving me more room to build the box.
Test fitted it to see how big the box can be
Then went ahead and fixed more supports to everything and sealed it all in with the sub box and all the wiring, putting the settings for the sub directly inbetween the seats, for easy access.
