Matt's 512bhp EK9 project

Next up the front discs were shot after 4 trackdays and some hard road miles so I opted for mtec (again) but the c-hook design, so they were fitted a few weeks ago. New rear pads were also fitted, I went for project mu ns400 here to replace the Dixcel units. New brake fluid was also used, Motul RBF 600.

We must be up to date now based on your choice of pad going with the NS400?

Rotors look pretty cool, never seen the hook design.

Yeah we're nearly up to date now lol.

The C-hook design has been about a few years now in the UK, thought I'd give them a go and see if they're any good.

Car looks great! Wondering if the product you used to clean the seat is the Woolite Darks laundry detergent?

Thanks in advance

Right this post is bringing us bang up to date, as in last week!

I've been on the look out for a plate diff for a while as the oem helical one was fine when NA but now it's boosted with double the power it just seems to pull all over, trying to find grip.

So I looked at the various plate diffs available and the best design/strongest seems to be the mfactory or cusco. New they are quite expensive so I was holding out for a good second hand one to come up, and when they do come up they seem to be less than half the price of a new one!

My holding out worked and I picked this cusco rs diff up last week! Once I got it I immediately striped it to check for wear on the plates or any tabs broken off, all was good and to be fair it looks like it's hardly been used! I rebuilt the diff and set it to 1.5 way.

The only downside was it didn't come with a vss gear:(. So after a few hours searching the Internet and on this forum I found out I could get one thankfully, it's on its way as we speak!

Once that arrives the box will be coming out for the diff fitting and a full mfactory/syncrotech rebuild kit including carbon syncros:D.

Mega. Ive found the plate diffs hardly wear at all tbh.

Yeah when the driveshaft kept falling out

Nothing visually. I guesa if id measured them i might have found something

Small update, picked some 10 lap old R888R tyres up the other day. 225/45/16 front and 205/45/16 rear, got them fitted yesterday and offered up to see if I'd have any front arch issues.....They fit!!

They still have quite a bit of tread left. What are your thoughts on the staggered v square set up? Do you feel more in control or is it a bit of a gimmick?

Think they come with 5.5mm new and I've measured these at 5mm so I'm happy.

I prefer the staggered set up, I've run square and the car feels very 'safe' but the wider fronts definitely turn in better. The other massive benefit for me is traction lol.

I've always wanted to get a staggered set up - cash is usually not free flowing though and I like being able to swap the back to front and vice versa when the time allows to prolong my tread life (and also save money, since living on a budget sucks).

Hopefully when I get around to purchasing a set of spare (track wheels) I can pick up a staggered set and throw some really sticky tyres on them.

It doesn't work out that bad tbh as a set of rears will last me all year, usually do 2 sets of fronts so still buying 4 new lol.
