Had a few packages arrive and had some free time between working on other peoples cars this Saturday to make some more progress on the B18C. Carried out adjustment of the valve clearances to manufacturers spec. Fitted extended intake manifold studs with new nuts.

Also replaced a fair few of the bolts on the engine with new yellow zinc plated bolts. Plan replace more before the engine goes in as some of the larger ones I ordered have the wrong thread pitch. But most of the smaller ones replaced, very happy with how they look.

After refitting the skunk2 intake manifold I fitted the j's racing blue rocker cover with new genuine honda seals and fasteners etc. Also put some plugs in it and fitted the Spoon Sports plug cover. Starting to look the part now I think!

Not much left to do now until the flywheel, clutch and gearbox can go on then into the car. Need to source a few parts first though, power steering pump bracket, alternator as the one the came with the engine has seen better days and a gearbox mounting bracket that fixes to the engine mount on the chassis leg. If anyone on here has any of these let me know!!

2020 looking good for the build

Bit of an update, basically have all the parts now to get the car running. Just a case of finding the time to do it! Made a bit of progress the other weekend, removed the front end and got into all possible areas to clean and then will treat everything with ACF-50. Heard a lot of good stuff about it so interested to give it a try! Here are a few photos of the car after cleaning, only a few images would upload due to file size, annoying.

The black stuff behind the rear bumper is just over spray from when it was under sealed at torquegt when it came into the country. Will get redone in the future but will do a far more tidy job and in white not black.

Fitted a few bits on the engine, PAS brackets, crank pulley and a couple other bits and bobs. Also fitted all of the engine mounts, Innovate billet mount set, happy with the overall quality.

Pile of parts is getting big now. Finally picked up all the interior bits I need including a carpet and door cards!

Hoping to get a few more bits this week and then engine in over the weekend fingers crossed!

Class build! Refreshing to see proper threads like this in the world of social media, gathering up genuine EK9 stuff isn't cheap in this day and age either. Car looked really good on those enkei es tarmacs.

Thanks dude! Getting there now, big post next week once engine is in and running fingers crossed haha. Got a set of Advan RG1's for it in white, will look good. Hoping to get it on the road in time to take it to England for a few shows and track days in the summer!

And correct on the not cheap part hahaha could've bought a mint original example for the money I'm into this and haven't even started on the fancy bits yet, e.g. spoon mirrors, brakes and chassis set up..... and yeah wish more folk were still active here!

Update time again, lots of photos too! Had a good few nights at the engine and box this week with a few setbacks along the way... first of all went to fit the gearbox mounting bracket and found that all 3 of the threads were buggered, so ordered a helicoil kit as I wanted to retain the original fasteners. Cleaned up the flywheel and fitted a new genuine honda pilot bearing.

Few photos of the car as it sits just now. Treated everything I could in the bay and inner arches etc with ACF-50, a bit of a pain to use but a great end result, nice shine and looks as if itll provide good protection.

Love having the use of this workshop, despite having to fix all the cars owned by girlfriends dad and family....
Fitted and correctly routed all the PCV and coolant hoses, used a tegiwa kit.

20200208_161623.jpg

(No photos of the coolant hoses fitted for some reason) also fitted new genuine Honda EK9 throttle cable bracket and IAT sensor. Then finally time to hook up the engine crane and get it off the stand.

20200211_191251.jpg

Fitted the flywheel with new genuine honda bolts.

20200211_194953.jpg

Then had great issues with the clutch trying to get it aligned, tried for about 4 hours to get it by eye and the box just would not go on, raging by this point as I've never had an issue previously. But tonight I got a shot of an alignment tool and the clutch put back on and box went on first try... looks like I need to get my eyes calibrated.

Then with the box on, flywheel dust cover fitted and starter motor on. Fitted the new genuine honda rear mount.

20200213_200352.jpg

Then with this done it was time to do the fun job of installing the helicoils in the gearbox. Actually had zero issues, all three went in first try and put a bit of loctite on the mounting fasteners and all good, mount on and happy days.

Engine now basically ready to go in, just need to stick on the intermediate shaft and fit and route the Rywire engine harness then over the weekend fingers crossed I'll get it in and possibly running if I have the time. Making the trip from inverness to Glasgow on saturday to pick up a set of Advan RG1's in white, stoked. More soon! Any questions or comments welcome!

Busy day today! Away to Glasgow early on to pick up a set of Advan Rg1's, very happy with them. Always wanted a set and look perfect white on white, need to find a set of the original stickers for them, I'm sure that wont be easy but start hunting.

20200215_182158.jpg

Tyres left on for mock up purposes, they are non road legal track tyres, will be getting a set of AD08RS's in the same size as the current tyres, 205/50/15.

A bit more done today, fitted the tegiwa toda style manifold, skunk2 alpha radiator and spent a good while connecting hoses, fuel lines and sorting the wiring. Pretty close to being ready to start. Had issues with the AEM fuel rail as it wont work with the OEM feed line but luckily managed to steal an OEM rail off a mate. Few more things to do over the next few days then put fluids in it and turn the key, looks good though!

Well after a year and a half sitting in the shed the B18C in the EK9 runs! Absolutely buzzing, primed engine with injectors unplugged to build oil pressure and then plugged in and started first try and idles perfect and takes revs no bother, engine is quiet as a mouse too.

Filled with some cheap millers oil for running up to temp, still need to fill with coolant and waiting for a Hybrid Racing shifter to arrive then will fit that and then fit the j's racing exhaust, bleed the clutch as I've fitted a brand new genuine honda slave cylinder then run up to temperature and bleed the cooling system and tidy up the engine bay. Getting there now, cant wait to get it finished now!!

That's sick. What are the plans for the interior once you've got it on the ground?

Awesome work, good to see there are still some builds going on. :nice:

where did you get the door cards from. I need a drivers side one!

Looking sweet mate! love the rocker cover and that exhaust manifold, nice and shiny for now

Man, I love white EK's on white RG one's, even better when they are in 15's. It's such a classic look. Good job, I'm sure that you can't wait to drive it.

Thanks! Well will hopefully stay that way, if not get improved on over time when the cars finally done.

Some nice shiny parts have arrived! Hybrid Racing B series shifter, a part I've wanted for ages, cant wait to test it out, looks amazing!

A set of genuine honda ek9 front pads and some brand new Meister R ZetaCRD coilovers. Was a tough choice for the coilovers but excited to get them on and try them out, went for the ZetaCRD's as I want the car to ride as good as possible without sacrificing good on track performance.
