hello I'm fairly new to doing cars up but I'm thinking of swapping out my d16y7 engine and want to put a good b18 engine in or even a b16a2. What's the best one to go for with a bugget of about 1.5k maybe a bit more.

Thanks

You can pick up a b18c4 complete swap for around 850. Leaving you a little extra to play with mods and tuning. Thats one common option anyway

Boost the D16. Half these B swaps for sale nowadays are junk. For the price of a decent B swap you can piece together a good reliable turbo kit that will push more than a standard b swap and will also be reliable as long as you don't go too crazy. Not many D series turbos around anymore which is a shame.

any ideas on rough price for a decent reliable d16 turbo kit?

ive got a b16a2 and gearbox here, if interested send me a PM

What can you get out of a d16y7 boosted? And what do you have to do before you install the turbo?. I just don't know weather to go for something like a b18c4 engine because they car good to boost too but then it's like you said the engines could be just and atm are way over prices.

Like would need to be any modification for the b18c4 to fit in my ej6?

How old are you, the only reason why I ask is from the insurance perspective.

If you swap a B16, its still 1.6, so when I swapped my D16Y7 to a B16A2, my insurance only went up by a £100, as soon I mentioned turbo I was looking at hundreds more. But that was many years ago when I was 25, with all these specialist brokers now, you may be able to get a decent insurance quote, just a thought

I'm 22, I'm with a specialist broker at the moment sky insurance I'll have to enquire about that as I want a b18c4 do little mods to it save and get it turboed. What did you get out your b16a2?

After all the following, it made about 195 (Race Tech dyno), obviously this will vary from dyno to dyno, so take it with a pinch of salt

B18C type R cams, valve springs and retainers, 3 angle valve job, B18C intake manifold and throttle body, head skim, intake, DC S/Steel 4-2-1 manifold. 2.5 inch cat back, mapped on chrome at Race Tech

If your planning to Turbo it down the line, just get a B18C4, plenty of good advice from guys on here that are running that set up

The problem is trying to find a decent b18c4 that's been looked after as I found some on eBay But look beat up and I'll have to get someone to rebuild it Any one know where I could get a decent on from?
