B16a2 engine cams

Hi guys

I have a ek4 with a b16a2 with relatively low miles on it

It’s got a custom air intake, exhaust manifold and exhaust and every piece of adjustable suspension you can buy

Gearbox is an s4c with a mfactory metal plate lsd and 4.9 final drive

Cars fully stripped and only used for track days but looking to get into racing

My question is.... is it worth modifying the engine without spending mega bucks, say skunk 2 tuner 2 cams, valve springs and retainers? Maybe port the head? Would it be worth the gains or would I be better off spending the money elsewhere

Any advice would be great thanks
 
You'd be better off starting with a B18 of some form and then spending money on retainers etc but it all comes down to what you want from the engine. Personally id stick to how it is for now and get some seat time, becoming a better driver will top all :nice:
 
Ideally I’d like to keep it as a 1600, but if engine swap is more economical for power I’d maybe go with that, which b18 would you recommend? Not looking for huge power just a little more

B18 if definitely where it is at for making more power, id go for a B18c from a DC2 ideally but again depends on your budget dude. Then if you only wanted a bit more power you could also get a B16b that way you'll keep it in the 1600 class but have more power to start with.
 
Ok mate thanks for advice, might be a daft question but where’s the best place to look for a new engine?
