hi members

help please. i saw a while back a member with mg tf160 4 pot calipers on his car. i just want to know if any other people out there have done this and if it will work.

i want to use the mg zr160 disc 282mm x 25mm with these.

i also need help with a company who can help make brackets for this...

i contacted another brake company and they said this will not work with a fr front engine car... the pistons are too small and the pedal will be very stiff and next second they will lock.. so it wont feel like stock... dont know if they wanted me to buy a kit from them instead but i cant afford, so need to do a diy

my civic is the stock 99ek hatch, 1.6 vtec, b16a6, 262mm disc in front disc in the rear and stock abs..

please any hook ups or advise please. i really just need to know where to get help manufacturing brackets...

also i see on the pics he posted, the pad seems to miss +- 10mm of the disc face near the hub? is this avoidable or is it what will end up happening..

i will post pics of this guys setup.

this is his description of the mods/parts...

"Description:* these are Ap racing oem mg tf 4 pots converted to fit a mg zr turbo which takes the same brakes as the ZS180 so these will fit various hondas that take mg zs/zr 282mm brakes. pads and discs are like new. 282mm discs so this kit should clear 15inch alloys fine. "

thanks rory

any help guys/girls

i see this guy had this on a mg... sorry i thought it was off a civic...

any info please

I can help you.i drive rover 216gti tc and have fitted ap 4pot callipers and 304mm discs from a tf .the mg uses pcd 99 so discs need holes opening up to fit pcd100 hub also centres need grinding out a bit to sit flush.the callipers dont line up to hub mounts either,i made a steel plate (1/4" thick)long enough to to be drilled and tapped to original hub holes then two more holes drilled to match 4 pot calliper also wheels will need spacers which means longer studs or different wheels to clear callipers as they sit both sides of disc.4 x100 pcd not 5x100 just incase u wondered.i built up a hub in a vice with much tgrial and error but can say have been running 2yrs now car stops much quicker and no problems to report.i can post pics or plate sizes if u decide to go this route

Ok. Thanks for the response..

Cant believe no honda guys tried this or even responding..

I really need to know if the stock 15/16 master cylinder will handle this..

I would do it 100% the first time and get a 1" master cylinder. You wonder who no Honda guys never tried this, probably because there are lots of other options. What is the reason you would want to use these specific calipers?

I have wondered this myself, my friend uses those calipers on his rally car and they work very well and are relatively cheap to buy. I'm not sure if a 300mm disc would fit under OEM wheel but it would under certain other 15'' wheels. So all that would be needed is a custom bracket and a different master cylinder.

I have Hi Spec 4 pots (Billet 4) running on 300 mm rotas with EK9 rear 262 mm setup, the car's a 2000 reg Lsi Coupe. When using the original brake servo and master cylinder (7/8) braking didn't inspire confidence, esp when the car was loaded, it just felt weak even compared to the original set up. However once I changed to the EK9 brake servo and master cylinder, there was a vast improvement with better feel, the braking felt stronger.

If you change to a 1" master cylinder, you must also use the servo that is designed to suit, otherwise braking can be compromised.

If you need some brackets making draw them up and I can fabricate them

i kept and indeed still run standard servo that came with my car.it started life with 262mm standard and discs at rear identical to honda jazz setup even though my cars 29 yrs old,the rear disc callipers are pretty poor on handbrake jazz and rover so after mot parking brake efficiacy fail i up braked the rear with honda civic sport discs and callipers just had to redrill discs to suit 4 stud wheels,i just had to file a lug back a little to fit them,im still running 304mm disc 4 pot ap calliper set up.there is a bracket to make and i had a hub mounted in a vice which i used as a mule to get all positions correct before fitting to car,the discs also require centre opening up to fit over the hub and sit flat
