Teggymuns Dc2

Quick life update, we built a garage at our new house and got the wife a gen3 prelude with 92k and minimal rust for 650 quid, still shook!

Recently i took some time to get the teg washed as it sat outside most of the winter and gave it a service.

I also managed to fix the tilt bracket on the rear as it was seized solid with underseal and paint. Quite a cool gimmick tbh but it will wear off soon

Ive just picked the teg up from automek where its had a pre mot check, new hel braided lines then passed its mot with no advisories!

The following week we drove up to fort william and back and managed 360 miles to a full tank couldnt believe it. We also stopped at the skyfall parking space, the views were unreal!

Also, every jap car owners worst nightmare finally happened. I found rust! I noticed a bubble near the front passenger jacking point last year but didnt want to poke the bear as i had so much other stuff going on. When the car was in for its mot at automek i got kian to have a nosey and it wasnt good. Turns out if you jab a bubble it bursts! So we booked in for it to be cut out and replaced with fresh metal.

After having the car back on the road for a bit ive remembered how awful the speakers are so ive decided to upgrade to some 300w pioneers.

20220504_204500.jpg

A massive upgrade compared to the 130w max power esque bad boys in the door cards!
20220504_204508.jpg

Unfortunately the replacements were a tad too big so i made up some plywood spacers to allow the cages to sit in the original places, i only had time to replace the fronts as id need the full interior out to replace the rears. Even with the 12mm ply spacers they still fitted behind the door card easily

At some point i will do the rears but even just having the fronts upgraded is miles better thsn before.

Since the car is now motd i managed to get these fitted. Not to everyones taste but i see a lot of kanjo and bozozoku guys running them in japan and i just thing that stuff is awesone. Fitted my jdm plate too so it looked the part!

What a great example of a DC2, would love one of these, hard to justify the prices though...

Ill admit i did pay a fair chunk for mine, i had a chance at one 10 years ago for a quarter of what youd pay now but couldnt insure one at the time. Now my insurance is cheaper than my road tax

Finally took the plunge after having a pretty much stock exhaust system for over 2 years, gave kian from automek a shout to make up something thats still tollerable on long motorway drives but has enough buzz when you kick it in the tits and he didnt dissapoint. I also have plans going forward to keep the car period correct so we went for a 3.5 inch tip

I then obviously had to go take it a test drive to run it in....

My plan is always going to be to keep the car as period correct as possible with a late 90s/early 2000s asthetic. I want it to look like it was imported into the country 15 years ago with the mods already fitted. With that said today i fitted a top fuel intake i got a while back. With a bit of work i managed to squeeze it in beside the abs and expansion bottle without it rubbing on anything. Basically i chopped it with a hack saw!

I also managed to feed the oem rocker breather into the intake using some rubber piping which i was happy with because i wasnt keen on having to play around with any of that stuff if i didnt want to.

Next up will be oil, filter and spark plugs before ap performance comes back over so i can get the map tweaked to suit the changes.

After that ive booked a ferry and hotel room to ireland so i can go to the hiro racing gun run for a good perv at some sick hondas!

Looking good man, will be interesting to see how the car performs with the intake/exhaust on dyno now .

Are you going to take it on track for Hiro day ?

Stunning.
Thanks man

doubt i will see much gains to be fair just want to make sure its 100 percent. Im driving from central scotland so dont want to risk damaging the car and being stranded maybe one day ill take it on track.

Nice Honda Access strut brace :nice: .....got the civic ones in front and back of my ek9

After the teg being pretty much bone stock for almost 3 years ive decided its time for a change. Hoping to keep a period correct vibe with the whole car so picked up some genuine advan rg 16x7.5 et45 finished in a pearl white with new stickers.

I Also knew of a c west fiberglass front lip that had been passed about some friends and asked around to see who had it and if they would sell it. A deal was struck and it was dropped off at my usual bodyshop for repairs and paint.

Once it was back from paint i threw it on with some double sided tape and a few screws and fitted the advans with a new set of rays extended lug nuts for a more racecar look and heres the result.

After fitting ive decided i want to go down the early 2000s route with the car and make it look like something youd see in a tuning magazine so ive contacted @st3ph3nr on instagram and all going well a basic decal will go on next. Pictures coming soon.

That advan wheels remind me that when I imported my 2000 ek9, a set of these wheels were stolen during shipment, since the car had them stored inside the car :(
