oem ek9 drivers facelift healight, cash waiting!!!

currently im running a cold air fed oem ek9 box (lower resonator removed) but around 2-3k the engine feels strangled. would i be beter getting a spoon elbow for the car to free + direct air better or going for a DC2R intake which i heard is much better for the engine?
