1/4 Mile slow times, gearing and turbo advice.

Hence I asked the above q.

1st and 2nd must be non existent.

No im not kidding it does grip, ask some of the guys at the last monster unit trackday at knockhill. I messed up the hairpin with a new gtr behind me and from low down in 2nd till flat out in 4th i pulled away from it, that was on low boost (380bhp) I run a hondata s300 ecu with boost by gear and the traction control module, also using 215/15/15 r888s on track. I am looking to wide arch my car over this winter so i can run 245/45/16 tires.

BBG... thats a diffrent ball game.. and traction control aswell... its hardly comparable!

The OP has 300bhp max and no BBG with poor tyres and cant get it to grip... a shorter box is the last thing he needs...

I was just explaining my situation that is all in the previous comment. If it were me id stick a s4c in it and some good tires will make a huge difference over the 1/4 mile.I think the s9b box will just be killing your acceleration. I dropped 4mph on my terminlas compared to the s4c gearbox and that was running about 50bhp less to.

As above really, sort your gearing, tyres and suspension out and the rest is down to you. If its mapped and all is good and it previously ran 13.2 with a similar spec then its most likely down to your driving mate.

is it possible heat soak is robbing you of power at the start line?

good tyres and less weight are two of the biggest contributors to good times

and seeing as you have plenty of power you should be in the low 13's to high 12's with the right prep

Most defiantly heat as well, On the day to there was stong head winds.

This can belocked now, I know what to do.

Tyres, Heat wrap, mad bumper for cooling.

If this dont work ill be investigation gearbox.

Thanks for helpfull comments.

Hopefully break 13s and never no 12s might come too.

Using the MFactory Calc

195/45/16
S9B Gearbox
@ 9000rpm
3rd gear should hold to 106mph keeping you in 3rd until the end of the 1/4

Right now it looks like your biggest issue is Narrow (195) Skinny Sidewall (45) tires.
