I am looking to order some track tyres for 16x7 alloys running on a standard height EK9.

Having done a bit of reading, 205/45/R16 seems to be the optimum tyre size for the 16x7 rim. The problem I'm having is that there appears to be a limited track tyre choice in this size.

The following tyre being the best option in 205/45/R16 I've come across so far:

http://www.camskill.co.uk/m116b102s..._Kumho_V70_A_-_R16_inch_-_205_45_16_205_45R16

What are my other options in terms of R888's or Ad048's?

Reduce the width, increase the profile: 195/50/R16?
or
Increase the profile: 205/55/R16?

Any other options?

Help would be greatly appreciated. Anyone running 16" track wheels, what tyres do you run? :thanks:

205/45 is a pretty standard size..

Are you set on Semi-slicks ? or maybe a fast road tyre ?

I thought it would be to.

Wheels will be for track use only so looking to get the maximum grip I can. As far as I'm aware R888's and AD048's don't come it the 205/45 option.

Strange .. always thought they listed them in 205/45

The Kumho V70a is a really good tyre , better than the R888 in both medium and hard compounds IMO.

A 195/50 would work , although faster in the dry it would be even trickier in the damp as the sidewall is stretched , giving you less slip angle.

Cheers Darragh.

I've been recommended the Kumho V70a by a few folk now and its looking likely that I will go for them.

Just after opinions on whether slightly stretched or larger profile R888's would be option worth considering.

Unless your car is set up for track and chasing times , dont bother over thinking on tyres IMO , the Kumhos wont see you wrong !

Was going to go with the medium compound. Any drawbacks in going with the harder compound?

Can be a bit trickier to get the pressures right and can have a bit less grip when very cold.

The medium would prob suit you better , especially if your going to hit Knockhill aswell on them.

lets see if the kumhos can keep up with some 400bhp pirellis come the 25th ;) young padawin
