2000 Race Base


Looks like a nice example there, not a fan of the wheels though,

Exhaust looks like a feels or fujitsubo rmo1a. Coilovers look good too
 
I am not certain which way I am going to go with this car. I do like the idea of keeping all of the fun bits that came with the car, but some I don't like. And if I start going back to stock on some aspects of the car, do I go back to stock on everything?

However, before all of that, I need to get used to driving on the right hand side of the car.
 
I would ditch that front bumper asap for a stock one. Race base had steel wheels so maybe some normal EK9 ones? Race base is kind of a funny one as the interior is meant to be ripped out because race car. But then if you do that is it any different to a normal EK9? Or do you leave it in and fall off the seats in corners?

Which bits don't you like?
If it were my car (I wish ;))I would probably put a stock bumper on and some nice wheels, put in one fixed back seat and a nice steering wheel, that would be my idea of perfect.

Most importantly though, get some corrosion protection on the underbody
 
Race base are such sleepers...looks very clean best of luck
 
Last week, the car went into a JDM specialist shop and they found a number of interesting things. First the compression was 210 psi for all four (4) cylinders and when I asked them to check the timing belt they said it looked great (no cracks). The tech said that given that the car has almost on it 160K (according to the trip meter), and blew no oil, it had to be rebuilt to a high standard, but from the outside, the engine and the transmission look as if they were never out of the car. Another interesting thing is that when I drove the car I couldn't figure out why it vibrated so much. It turns out that the previous own had installed racing engine mounts that appear to be brand new.

On a side note, while the chassis number is 1203666 the engine number is 120675. Given what I have read on this site and others a difference of 9 between the two is within others experience.

If it's on 160000kms then that's only 100000 miles, it's normal for b16b's to be that healthy way beyond that if its been treated right

Straight up, 100k is just run in for a honda so long as its been looked after! People service them but forget about stuff like valve clearances or even just warming up / cooling down properly. Makes a big difference though
