One of the best Accord Type R's on the market.

Maticulously maintained by a fully time served mechanic ( Me ) and much respected member on accordr.org.

Basically, a friend of mine has bought an EK9 Civic Type R, and to be honest, I absolutely love it, so I want one. Or I would have an Integra DC2.

Ok the Spec,

2001 Honda Accord 2.2 Type-R in Nighthawk Black.

This car has been meticulously maintained by a fully qualified time served mechanic. I am a member on the only ATR owners club forum in Europe, you can log-in and check my posts to view the history of my car, my user name on http://www.accordr.org is RapidSeven.

If you know about the Accord Type-R you will know what problems they are notorious for, and this car has had EVERYTHING replaced and more.

Dont be fooled by other ATR's with less mileage, engine wise they are bullet proof as long as there serviced properly and the oil level is checked and topped up, as the VTEC system relies on oil pressure to operate. These cars use oil, every ATR uses oil, so if another vendor tells you it doesnt use a drop, he's pulling your leg.

Ok the spec,

2001 Honda Accord 2.2 Type-R.
129k ( 100k was done in the first 2 years 2001-2003 )
MOT 05/08
Tax 05/08
FHSH ( Extensive folder too )
Limited Slip Differential
Leather Recaro Interior.

NEW Front discs and Mintex Extreme pads fitted today - 04/01/08

Parts replaced within the last 3k,

5th Gear Sync ( notorious ATR transmission failure ) the cost at a Honda Dealer for this repair is over 1000 pounds.

Exedy clutch ( A clutch from Honda is nearly £400 )

Timing belt, auto tensioner and balancer belt ( another problem with the atr is the worn auto tensioners ) cost from a Honda dealers, £500 minimun.

Full Service including ALL fluids and filters, Ht leads, Distributer cap, rotor arm, plugs, coolant, gearbox oil, used Silkolene Fully Synthetic Ester based Oils.

EGR plate, EGR Valve, VTEC solenoid, Throttle Body serviced.

Valve Clearances checked and adjusted every 2k ( ever drove an atr thats sluggish ? this is why )

This is just friendly advice, if you buy an ATR that hasnt had the gearbox, clutch, timing belt and tensioner, valve clearances, EGR parts and a full service, expect to pay a minimum of £2000 extra on top of your purchase price, because these parts WILL fail.

Ok, now the other part of the spec.

Engine and Gearbox oil changed every 2-3k with only the best quality oil available on the market, Silkolene Fully Synthetic Ester based oils.

x2 Strut Braces
Throttle Body Coolant Bypass
Crankcase Breather
K&N panel Filter with cold air feed.
Oil Catch Tank
Magnecor KV85 HT Leads
Decat with o2 sensor spacer
Full Stainless steel exhaust ( nice note, not loud )
Blitz R-Vit monitor/controller
Leather Recaro Interior

Good ICE including Rockford Fosgate Sub and Amp, Kenwood in dash DVD player, Ipod adaptor etc.

The overall condition of the car is outstanding, as I am very keen on the detailing side of things. For 129k its really really good. It would pass for a car with at least half the mileage, and drives like its done half the mileage to be honest.
