Alright, I've heard of people using 225 tires up front and leaving the 205's in the rear. What offset do people use in these setups? I want to start nasa hpde heavily in my new ek4 I picked up a week ago! I ran 235 fr and 215 rear in my dc5! the car felt a lot better....

Well it would help if you said what size wheel you want to run ....

This may be wrong but does high speed stability reduce if you have wider tyres on the front?

it would increase.

stagger tire sizes make perfect sense even on FF cars. MR/FR/RR cars all run larger tires in the rear to help with stability and putting the power down.

FF cars suffer from having all the weight in the nose, on top of that, the driving wheels are also asked to turn and brake.

People complain about understeer - well no sh!t!! The front tires are under so much stress that obviously they will break traction first.

While there are many ways to set up an FF Honda's suspension, I prefer to not use a high spring rate in the rear (DC5 being the exception because of their inherent design) but at the same time, not everybody wants to or can afford to buy 2 complete sets of tires for the front/rear.

Compromises....

yeah true! i was running 32k rear 16k front springs on my track car dc5. on the civic i am running 16x 7... dont know the offset yet.... i have to measure because there are no numbers er marks on the rim.... i want to run 215 front 205 rear..... 225 front would be nice though

I did consider this when i was changing suspension setup etc, i ended up going for 205/50/15 tyres all round on stock wheels changing from the standard 195/55 potenza's

the tyres i'm running, Hankook RS2, actually measure at about 215mm though so are a big 205 :wow: braking/acceleration/cornering stbility is much improved with the increased contact patch :)

I want Check 205/50R15 on front wheels and 195/55R15 on Rear wheels.

225-205 i believe they are ok for a k20 swap...

ALSO, wouldn't be running 225's on the front unless you are running some very light wheels to counter the extra rubber weight

oh please... the extra weight of the tires may be significant to some degree ...but it more than returns any losses in acceleration by virtue of stability with a larger footprint and will brake even better because of the wider contact patch.

ive been interested in tryin this for years, been done in asia especially for long time, wont be long before it catches on over here

I use 205/40/17 pirelli zero nero on front and Rear wheels.

super performance...but onli 10k km...

Agreed.... weight of bigger tires, on this scale. Is miniscule to the advantages

Yeah youre right, not going to make THAT much of a difference

I can definately vouch for 205/50/15 all round, SO good whatever the conditions :D
