Hi there, name Justin and coming from Hong Kong,

coming soon, me, & my family will be moving to Birmingham UK in Aug with my Honda Civic ek3 D15 Sedan 99 (Hope you guys are welcome a non type-R civic:nice:),

as im noob in new place, is there any suggestion that you guys can share with before i ship the car to UK?

like anti rust protection, changing all the fluid, gasket, seal, rubber, brake pads, tie rod, hub bearing etc?

your advise will be helping me a lot, thank you once again!!:)

Hello Justin and welcome

Congrats on the move to the UK.

I would be recommending you get a high quality underseal job done using a product range called Dinitrol. I had it done on my ek9 and it has definitely done its job in protecting the underneath!

For the other parts if you are registering your car here I would advise you have it in top mechanical order, it may be worth getting some advice from a vehicle importer like Torque GT or Bhp imports.

Anything else feel free to ask

much appreciated for your advice and for sure, vehicle will be registering in UK and vehicle be shipping in May,

some basic mods installed like EK9 5 stud conversion, tannabe coilover with mugen Twin loop exhaust, not a hard job to get all the document and apply to DVLA, just worrying vehicle condition as rust is my major issue to be corner....:busy:

btw wish to join any kind of wtsapp group or fb page to join your guys for getting more useful stuffs :nice::nice:

A lot of people I've seen ship their cars over rather than sell. I still have family in HK. Congrats on the move dude.

thank you for the reply message.

Can't wait to join any cruise or meet up

Stupid question: would like to ask if it is legal to do a engine swap in UK from D15 to B16A or B16B? as I am running a D-series engine at this stage, and would like to do a engine conversion to B16 for track day or hill run when vehicle arrived in UK ( and for sure, If I can find one.....)

Thanks again Justin :beer::beer:

Only stupid question is the one you dont ask!

Yes it is legal. Technically you are meant to inform the DVLA (vehicle licencing folks) and state what the new engine is, etc. But I dont know of anyone who bothers to do so as it means your road tax goes up most of the time.

Its very common to see engine swaps in the UK, either from D to B or to a K series engine

Isn't it an insurance issue as well?

@o0s130o The laws aren't as strict as HK.

This is a damn good new to hear and forgive my stupid question as my country is strict as hell not even a Mugen twin loop or K&N pod filter.

So I can just simply do a B swap without telling the DVLA and still passing with MOT? or MOT won't even concern what engine u put it?

in my mind, it tells me that MOT will be checking with Engine number as well lol.

Yes it does become an insurance issue, I cannot confirm or deny how it works though.

Speaking from own experience over the years, the insurance seem to be fine with it as long as they are aware.

As for MOT, there will be different amounts of emmissions that the different engines put out and are acceptable in the test. I dont know of many people who have standard exhaust systems though and most people can point you in the direction of a friendly MOT tester who will look the wrong way for emmissions tests. They are clamping down on this at present though due to testers passing cars they havent even seen. Best bet there is to put a proper cat in - but ive gone a bit off topic

Hi Justin, I’m a new member. My name Chris also from HK too, I am interested how much for importing your ek to UK. And I want to know are you already rented a house in UK before gave the car to local transportation company for shipping to UK and transport to your rented house?
