advice needed

:blabla: :blabla: :angry2: If you want a turbo car why not just go get a chavs Impreza. If you really want a turbo VTEC just do it to VTi dont spoil a EK9:confused:
Sorry just my 2p's worth.
Dunx

:blabla: how does it "spoil" the car? it makes it FASTER how is that spoiling? if you mean spoil like: "to treat really well" then yes i absolutely agree :D

please explain how a turbo spoils the car, im really intersted to know why you say that :)

Btw, I didn't say that I like turbocharged EKs. :) We are speaking about brutal force, feeling trully unbeaten right blinx? :D, but the EK9 signature goes along with VTEC and not with Turbo!! Turbo is common component for every car however, VTEC is not. I think it looses its identity in a way:( that's how I feel. Also the sound of an N/A EK9 in my opinion cannot be compared with the sound caused by forced induction. I think that vibrating melody of pure Vtec is the something else!!!:woot:

if only the police agreed  i do drive my car on the street sometimes, and a built all motor set up would just be way too loud. i do agree though it does sound awesome, but the turbo sound is really nice too. there both nice and different.

The N/A EK9 engine sounds "loud" only when you rev hard no matter if its modded or not(because of low cc, and hence low torque). Also if you have a small exhaust pipe or a silencer then it sounds ever less. Go to youtube and see some videos of the 2005 Ferrari FXX which runs a 6200cc engine with 508 lb-ft!!!, and you are gonna see that the sound even if is recorded on camera and not authentic, its very annoying in naked ear

small exhuast or silencers kill a lot of power though, especiall on a turbo car. even all motor, my car doesent even move with a silencer in place

Yes, that's true, I had a silencer within my Kakimoto Racing 60mm exhaust pipe(covered half of the hole) and when I removed it, the sound became irritating and the power more, especially torque. However, here because we live in a country with a bloody police, sooner of later I will have a proplem if I don't do something about it quickly  Also, this summer I have to take it for M.O.T spec after two years of ownership(every two years :angry2: ), too many mods were made since then........difficult days are coming :(

i c everyone got carried away with the turbo idea!!! that would be nice but unfortunately in here we always the bloody 5-0 on our cases!!! i put on ngk iridium laser premium spark plugs yesterday, the car is a bit more aggressive when the vtec kicks in. i outran a mate with ease with a s15 silvia 2.0 n/a haha!! & a couple of nights ago, i raced a mate with a bad ass eg6 (eg6: b18 bottom end, b16 top end, high compression pistons, cams, valves, retainers, ported & polished)!! the 1st time there was three people in his car & 2 in mine & he was only half a car in front. the second time we only had a person each & he kicked my ass big time!!! for the mean time though ;-)

Welcome to EK9.org mate.

Since this is your daily drive, i will recommend just bolt ons.

This is my opinion on what mods you should do to your B16B since this is your daily drive.

1. TOP FUEL, or MUGEN Intake.
2. Spoon / Toda / Mugen Header
3. Mugen Twin Loop Exaust System.
4. Spoon Plug Wires
5. Spoon / Hp Hawk / Endless brake pads.
6. Rear strut bar (in case you don't use your trunk a lot)
7. Aftermarket ECU, maybe one from phearable.net to remove the speed limit + better performance.
8. Lightweight wheels, for example, advan rg, volks te37.
9. Tein Springs, so you can lower your ride a little.
10. Carbon Fiber Hood.

With this mods you will gain a lot in performance, and you ain't sacrificing daily drive ability.

With camshafts, i would recommend to you to stay with the OEM ones, because oem EK9 Civic Type R camshafts are very aggressive, if you install a more aggressive ones, you will need a compression increase in the motor, so they can work properly. But if you decide to upgrade your camshafts, i will go for TODA B or SKUNK 2 Stage 2. If you upgrade your camshafts don't forget to add, after market springs and retainers.

Hope this help.

couldnt of put it better myself lol

hey guys,

should i uprate my clutch & flywheel? what brand do you guys recommend? i heard that exedy comes stock on ek9's & dc2's. & half the people i asked told me that 4.1kg flywheel is the way to go & others told me to leave the stock one.

It depends on what your planning to use your car for..... If you are using it only on track, put the lightest flywheel you can for high revving and don't be concerned about its drivability:woot: If you are using your EK9 in puplic roads in traffic then I recommend leave it as it is, because if you install a very light one then your car will not be as smooth in acceleration and deceleration as now. The faster the rpm go up, the same way drop and it will become a true nightmare in traffic!!!
Note: A lightened flywheel does not increase hp or torque, it only affects acceleration and deceleration because it reduces the crank rotating mass. If you would ask me, I would say there is no need to make this mod. You can do many things for the sake of performance that will not affect drivability!!:nice:

manos i'm going to keep the car 4 street use. it's my daily driver actually.

i have a 8lb flywheel myself and six puck sprung clutch, my official opinion:

stock ctr flywheel is perfect for street use, upgrade the clutch if your power-level/driving habits require you to do so.
