Hi,

I've been offered a VW Bora 130 BHP (remapped by Revo- apparently 170 bhp now?), 02 plate, has 112k, FSH with 3 owners. It looks standard, no mods other than the remap.

He wants to P/X with my Lexus IS200, the IS200 is up for £2300 (I'd let it go for around £2000), he want's to give me £250 on top....I don't want to keep the Bora but will I be able to sell it for more than £1750? I don't want to get stuck with it or lose out!

I've tried looking on Autotrader but they vary so much on price, it's shocking! Also, a lot of the TDI on Trader don't state the BHP.

Any opinions would be great, cheers

I dont know why you even thinking about it, that lexus is going to be a ball ache selling tbh, at least the bora is tdi and only done 112k. For a diesel its just run in especially if its the 1.9tdi. They are the most reliable diesel engines that vw/skoda/seat/audi use.

I would have taken his left arm off at that deal tbh

I know it's a good car to keep etc but just concerned I will lose out money.

How long have you been trying to sell that Lexus for? It must be pretty mint, most I have seen were well below 2k... The Bora will definitely be a lot easier to sell, but as with any used car there's the risk of a hidden issue not disclosed by the seller.

That's always worried me in the past selling privately! As a rule I don't trust people anyway so I question the motives of someone running at me offering a car (they can't sell) as payment...

...what's wrong with it to prevent them selling it?

Proceed with caution

A mate had a Bora TDI for a company car and it was a top car. Very reliable and quite quick.

One of the best cars that I have ever owned, do it it would sell for 2500 all day long

Cheers guys. Mine has only been up for sale for about 2-3 weeks and is pretty mint with low miles and only 1 previous owner.

As above, it did make me think, "why doesn't he just sell it and then buy mine and save money?"

Bora's are great all rounder cars but just check how the clutch is as 170 hp will be putting strain on it.. apart from that, id say go for it :))
